I am interested in all history esp that about Malta...
But last Mon I found out that Monaco have a player with a clear Maltese surname "Mifsud" so I made a little research.
The search brought me to that site.
Apparently Mifsud is a jewish surname.
Still sound strange to have a Maltese surname in Chad...
I believe that the story went like this.

In the early 20th Cent Maltese used to emigrate to N.Africa mainly Tunisia Algeria and Egypt. The guy might have had a child with a sub Saharan who happened to be there as well and it kept going until the African complextion took over...

Edit. The person asking for that is not me

Well, if you want to go further back in history, during antediluvian times, it seems that your island was populated by giants and mythical creatures

Courted by Manchester United and FC Barcelona, Bernardo Silva could pursue his career at Chelsea next season if he leaves AS Monaco. According to the Times, the Blues have already begun negotiations to recruit the Portuguese. The French club would claim nearly 80 million euros for his pearl.

How long has English been compulsory? I'm asking because when I used to teach English I had very good German students, even when they were on the older side.

Depends on the respective state to some extent... But generally 1964... My mom was born in 1960 and never learned it... Quite handy for her to have someone in her family who teaches English AASL...
Quality has greatly improved though, especially since the early nineties...

1964 sounds about right... I had one who was about 55 or so who spoke perfect English. Can't remember from where... Might have been Hamburg.

I once had a teenager from Stuttgart who told me I would be his favourite teacher of all time if I weren't a Bayern fan still wanted to meet me in Stuttgart though (I was going to visit a couple of weeks later).

Wasn't aware you also teach although now that you mention it it rings a bell
