I see excitement and hype around Zidane all over again, but is a completely new chapter for the Frenchman. However, he's ego, authority, charisma, credit is light years bigger than it was in January 2016 therefore Zidane is going to demand all or nothing and it's expected to see big names in summer landing to Madrid.
A new winger and a striker are must. Central defense is probably face some changes while midfield is the biggest mystery in my opinion.
Modrić renewed his contract and he is going to stay no matter what, Isco's situation for the 3rd time in less than 6 months is changing at Real, Casemiro is likely to stay, but the future of young Spanish talents such as Llorente, Ceballos and Uruguayan Valverde are very uncertain.

I don't know what are they expecting from Zidane, but after 3 straight CL title and total debacle over the last 16 years in La Liga and Copa del Rey, I would demand a new era in Spain because with this nearly 2 decades negative trend and balance of power, Barcelona are very likely to equal or even surpass Real Madrid in the next decade as the best Spanish club.

Real are on 33 league titles so far and Barcelona are on 25 and running towards their 26th this season. Real was on 29 titles in 2003, Barcelona on 16 titles. If this isn't a red alert signal in Real Madrid, I don't know what it is. :|

This reminds me on Portuguese league where Benfica fell into some kind of dark times and deep depression in the entire 90's and 2000's while Porto started to rise in the 80's and caught their tail in 3 decades, but this decade Benfica once again has restored their shine and ran away a bit to breathe easily.

This is how I have seen situation in Spain for the last 10 years.

Great news for us on the James front.

I personally do not believe Zidane will make much difference to Real's woes. Ronaldo and referees were the bigger losses.

I’ve been out of touch. Can someone explain to me exactly why this will help is keep James?

Totally stoked if it does. Just not remembering or really understanding why Zidane doesn’t appreciate what James brings. Don’t understand why Real gifts us some of our best players :)

Zidane had James permanently sitting on the bench. At first it appeared to be because Casemiro offered more balance to the side, but Zidane also played Isco over James. Colombians hated Zidane during those times.

But WHY does Zidane have such a problem with James that his condition would be “No James”? Why would he not want that option? That’s a world class player that kinda would like to play for Real Madrid, and basically comes for free.

Not sure if it's really as negative as "no James", but it just doesn't work footballing-wise i.e. Zidane doesn't see a need for him. I don't think it's anything beyond that.

There were clashes between them both and James apparently didn't give his best in trainings after that.

But the funny thing is that whenever James was given the chance, he played pretty well and either scored or assisted

[quote="FCBayernMunchen" Ronaldo and referees were the bigger losses.[/quote]

Actually Zidane was the loser from the Ronaldo deal.

He knew that Perez is not going to pay more money to Ronaldo (that he's leaving practically), also Perez was obsesses with promoting youth players and buying a young ones in the last 2 years, so he was smart enough to know that the team is going to fall apart.

I just learned that Zidane have full control over the squad - Perez is no longer chosing the players. This summer is going to be interesting.

Will be an actual test of Zidane’s tactics and his golden luck.

Real Still have a decent young team to play their preferred 433

PSG's owner said the other day that Mbappe is not for sale and they are working on wage rise for him.
