To lazy to open link. Are we talking about official, regular season matches, or stuff like the Supercup?

Great move by both. Now they will get more money and buy better players and put the English clubs back in their place. In the meantime, backwards thinking Bundesliga clubs will start buying players from second division clubs in Spain and England.

What I find ridiculous is our expectations to do well in Europe when the Bundesliga is the only top league not trying its best to make more money. Other clubs will soon start making 300M and 400M player purchases while we would still be doing 50M ones by which time we'd be getting players of the same level as Christian Lell.

We had Oddo, Pranjic, Braafheid but you mention Lell. Thats unfair!

Rule 50+1 will end in the moment when fans will hate to see Bayern winning the 20 consecutive bundesliga, just wait!

Having players travel to random stadiums with fans who don't know their chants will lower the level of football and the underlying entertainment. European viewing numbers will drop due to time difference.

I agree money is the most important thing, but European leagues better learn from the Premier League. European Market might be saturated, but the TV deals can be opened to the Asian or American markets. Might need to change kick off times to accommodate Chinese fans for example, but would still be tolerable in weekends. This is a cruel move to the local fans who want to watch these matches live.

If 50+1 doesn't end soon, when Bayern win the 20th Bundesliga in a row they would have failed to progress past the CL group stage for a decade.

Quality of the players over quality of the stadium atmosphere every single time for me.

I dont think so, eliminating rule 50+1 will benefit everyone less bayern.

Most german footballers like to play for their country, for bundesliga and Bayern is the elite team where they can earn a lot of money and compete for champions league. With the rule 50+1 keep existing, everything will be the same as being for years, most important german players playing for Bayern that will make us enough good for at least reach to knockout phase of UCL.

And because Bayern will be playing champions league every year, something that english teams do not have guarantee, that will attract some international good players that will like to come here as what happening right now.

Our squad will keep good with this rule.

I literally just said lower quality atmosphere leads precisely to lower quality football.

Dumbledore7, it is one match a season. There's hundreds of matches a season and what they lose in that one match they gain a lot through other means (eg more Americans following Spanish football and buying merchandise)

Spanish football

Postby FCBayernMunchen » Thu Aug 16, 2018 10:22 pm

Yeah, and do you think that match is going to be Celta Vigo-Getafe? Especially when one team has to give up home advantage? It'll be the Classico, after all it's meant to promote the league.

There are other ways to do that. The national league is precisely that: national (damn, that's the most nationalistic thing I've ever written). I'd be pretty pissed off if for example I had a season ticket and would end up having to pay hundreds if not thousands to watch the biggest game of the season. Not to mention the time difference which Dumbledore already did.

I haven't yet had the pleasure of watching Bayern live but I'm not vouching for Bayern to start playing all over the world. If I want to watch them I'll go to Germany, or go and watch an international tournament. The leagues belong in their home country.

Also, although I don't usually like slippery slope arguments, it's not so far farfetched to imagine they'll be playing in China, India, Australia, and the Latin American world next.
