Dortmund never good enough to win because they aren't "good enough" at "possession and triangular circulation". Brings up Barcelona as the shining example of this virtue, a team that lost in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Definition of a failed argument.

Sorry I should explain myself better.
Analyse Sevilla's level of spacial manipulation. They press high and they control the ball and territory. That wins you tournaments.

Even Alberto Moreno’s Wikipedia page didn’t escape the wrath of Liverpool fans after his horrendous display.

Really?
For me domination is a function of possession and triangular circulation. Dortmund were never really good enough to win this tournament.

Yes, Barcelona in 2013 were perfectly poised to win the CL with that 70% possession at Camp Nou against Bayern.

Not to mention Bayern against both Madrid teams recently, with that glorious 70% possession.

Not to mention Barcelona in 2016 with that spectacular 70% possession.

Tbh I absolutely agree with you, possession does not always work out. As you said Barcelona monopolized possession to the tune of 72% in Allianz Arena in 2013 but got beaten 4-0.

To compensate you need absolute defensive organization which Dortmund don't have.

But at least someone who distinguished himself; De Gea played like 4 matches?
