We get 0-0 at Anfield - Bayern refused to play, they are tricking Bayern football.

Before the game - we are getting hammered at Anfiield 4-1, Kovac raus, Bayern is done for years.

Jeez, we surely have the most idiotic fans.

Should play like this at home:

Sané ---- Lewandowski ---- Gnabry
Davies - Thiago - Kimmich - Dest
Hernández -- Alaba -- Upamecano
--------------- Neuer ----------------

James played exactly the same way Goretzka does 90% of the games, so what are you so smug about?

MUTU wrote:Just wondering why these kind of tactics weren't on show while we were beating BVB and Fortuna Duesseldorf. Is it pride? I think such tactics don't go down too well with the Bayern faithful who like to see flowing attacking football at all times. Yesterday seemed like the kind of match I would expect from the Italian national team. It worked, but it doesn't quite have that Bayern 'mark' to it.

I've thought of two possible things:
1) We are unable to switch tactics mid-game, which is a big weakness. This has been a problem in other games this season.
2) Kovac needs a long time to prepare. That's why he handled Liverpool well tactically. Most of the time there are only 3-7 days before a game though.

They were slightly better in the first half. In the second they didn't have a single real chance despite how much time was spent around our area. In my opinion Bayern were much better in the second half.

Well, it is well known BILD are not James biggest fans :lol:

I'm worried for the second leg. We played a very defensive game yesterday night and still it was difficult to keep a clean sheet. In Allianz I really don't think we will play like that, and that means Liverpool are likely to score at least one especially now that we will be missing Kimmich. I highly doubt we will make it through if we don't score at least 2 goals which by the way shouldn't be that far fetched either. Let's hope for an early goal.

The tactics for this first leg were not difficult to figure out, but this 2nd leg it's gonna be very tricky. I really don't know what to expect.

Better, since Goretzka can't defend to save his life.

After half of the season I'm not any longer a fan of Gnabry play. Bayern should sell him like sold Rudy. WTF these young guys (starting from James first summer when he came) want to score themselves rather than pass or cross, and they do not score, or make one dribble too far... :evil:.

Rafinha RB Boateng RCB. Suele bench. Others remain same.

In any case, Kovac has earned my trust on whatever he thinks is the right line-up.

Because Kovac is yet to pull off such an experiment

Defend with four men (3 CB + J. Martinez), attack with the rest. When defending, Alaba to drop back to revert to a 4-men defense. Javi's duty is to steal any ball, pass it to Thiago and then to Coman/James/Gnabry.

Pros:
- Unpredictable;
- No Rafinha;
- Overlapping runs by Alaba to support Coman on the left, chemistry between James and Gnabry on the right;
- James can focus on attacking;
- If Alaba can push forward, Salah will have less support from Alexander-Arnold;

Cons:
- Never experienced this line-up;
- The only available backups in defence are Rafinha and Mai.

We just can't rely on Liverpool playing worse than yesterday just because the are going to play away, no shots on target = no goals.

I think Boateng should definitely play.
Whenever Süle had the ball, we really had no idea what to do.
We need Boateng's passes and I think when there is a good defensive concept like yesterday, Boateng can still pull it off (see Hummels).
