What if all the bad overall games and defending since the start of the season is just a piece from the Kovac's plan to win the treble this season ?!?

James looked bad because he was expected to make the difference in attack. Reality is, I'm still convinced he defended better than Müller or Goretzka could ever hope to, and since that was the gameplan, can't fault him much either despite not delivering what's usually expected of him. He was indeed sloppy though.

The time for #12 to shine has to wait...

Not saying that I am happy with this 0-0 as a team such as bayern has to make the best to score an away goal.

I am also guttet at those pepish back passes and Kimmich suspension.

Also the Ref was totally against us in all 50/50 decisions

Cheers, almost what I expected - thought Liverpool would have had just under 1.5.

Those of you bitching about back passes and the circulation between Neuer and the centre backs: those were the one thing that kept us in the tie.

Easy to say but if we can defend as well as that while showng greater quality and willingness to attack we should go through (No shit). Point I'm making is that Liverpool's old problems against disciplined defences started to show again tonight.

They were also the only thing that gave us any space to work with. The midfield would drop it back to one of the defenders, and one of our CBS would drop really deep to receive and distribute. Liverpool’s front 3 chased all the way back and then got cut out with a forward pass. I think it was intentional to sucker them into the press and bypass them. Seemed to work well, we just had no final product

This game reminded me of another 0 0 at Anfield and that was with City visiting.

I think Kovac used same tactics as Pep, both fall backs were conservative and both teams came not to loose or concede badly. So in that respect plan worked out.

Why not to park a bus in away game and win at home?
Well done =D>.

When Alaba-Kimmich are so Lahm-disciplined everybody looks solid.
Javi absolute perfection! Props to defense.

Offense though.... uglyyy as hell
You see the squad is good but we lack enormously the offensive plan & flare, we need a coach!

Props to Neuer with his unreal GK ball-playing skills, 70 touches, he saved us big time!

This is probably the first time ever when I've approved all those back passes and passing in our own half.   I have never thought I would say and praise that, but actually I'm saying it tonight.
In this tough times and situation, against this opponent and for the purpose of not losing the match and conceding goals... It's justified and even desired.

In any other circumstances I would keep my view the same regarding that passing, possession and "controlled football", just as it was during Jupp period 2011-2013 when we would play bad 2nd half after the secured lead, Guardiola period 2013-2016, Ancelotti short spell and a firefighter Jupp episode last season.

Can't blame him I think. Kovac's plan is focusing on defend and James DID IT very well.
Kovac himseld, had said before the game that he wanted to see more defending actions from James

I'm very impressed of his sliding tackles and intercepts, nearly same level of Vidal in term of speed and accuracy

I really want Robben to be fit for the return leg....
Even Ribery .... put Coman on the right and #7 on the left
