The problem is NFL football. No one would hold it against you or any other foreigner came to America and referred to "soccer" as "football". But if you are a native American and talked about football without context, you're either unnecessarily confusing people, or you're kind of a poser.
As I assume this is a Maltese English language forum about a German football club, I suppose football would be more easily understood term. Actually do the Maltese here use British English? Do you spell "harbor" or "harbour"?
