The GK, back four and front three (lest Coman is out, then Ribery.) are set in stone.

Thiago and Goretzka will play for sure.

The only question left is: Double-pivot with Thiago-Javi or Thiago as DM with Leon B2B and James in an advanced position ?

I prefer having Javi (until Coco returns) then playing James. Him and Leon are disappointing defensively, but at the later seems to perform well offensively at the 10 position lately, and is a more dangerous player on set-pieces.

I'm hoping for a commanding 1-3 win, but expecting a disappointing 2-2 nonetheless.

This just makes me shake my head. Goretzka is an absolute zero at the #10.
If Goretzka is performing well there, James is world-class.
Whenever I read something like this, I just shake my head.

As for set-pieces, I'm pretty sure we all know who our best set-piece TAKERS are: Lewandowski and James.

I think any non-sadomasochist coach would play both Goretzka and James in a match against Liverpool. Goretzka is more hard-working and can help more defensively and from an aspect of physicality and to try and take control of the midfield. James is more creative and has more flair and technique which will be useful against the subpar defenders that Liverpool will be forced to field tomorrow.

According to Kovac, we don't want to play defensive football tomorrow. So anything other than James-Goretzka-Thiago and this guy will look even more like a total scrub than he already does.

According to Kovac, we don't want to play defensive football tomorrow. So anything other than James-Goretzka-Thiago and this guy will look even more like a total scrub than he already does.
