Of course it does make a difference! John Arne Riise clearly told me this morning he thinks Liverpool will go through thanks to this rest. He made it sound almost like it is the most important factor. This guy knows what recovery time and rest means, even from a psychological point of view.

If Kovač does what he did at the start of the season, then yes.
Otherwise:Spoiler: show
At least, this time he (sorry ramsej84) *touch wood* should have a wider selection of players to choose from because the injury situation is getting thinner and thinner.

Kovac needs to find the right mix. Neither radical nor non-exisiting rotation is the way to go.
Once he's found his 11 - which he looks like he did - he should be able to rotate more every now and then.

Absolutely agree with the first part.
But I have some doubts with the 2nd part. There's going to be Davies who'll get some playing time, OK, but the biggest question will be James vs Mueller I'd say. Also, once Tolisso will be back it will (hopefully!) be a selection headache for him.
bastos80 wrote:Don't really think that rules out Kovac finding his main 11.
Except for James who he'll have to build up for the Liverpool game, and maybe Hummels vs Boateng, the team is set.
Davies will get his occasional 10-15 minutes here and there until Robben and Ribéry are gone. There's no pressure on him.

You're assuming no fresh injuries and no new purchases, but OK that sounds about right...
We're usually lethargic after winter break, so maybe that is to our advantageMUTU wrote:Final schedule

- play a match against Schalke
- travel to Augsburg
- play against Augsburg
- travel back to Munich
- travel to Liverpool.
