So our record transfer signing, who almost doubled our previous transfer record, starts on the bench while the guy we tried to sell for over a year starts.

I'm sure Flick is starting Boateng because of Giroud, as the Frenchman is superior in the air and we need some tall defender to match him for the high balls.

Is this going to payout? I'm not sure. I prefer Hernandez in games like that, but I hope that King Boa is going to prove me wrong and he's going to get at least 8 from whoscored at the end of the game. ;)

Nobody could have expected Davies to be this good and Alaba to have a renaissance at CB tbh
This back-line has worked while Lucas has just come back from injury, and while Alaba + Lucas looked good in a 3atb formation, it seems to early for us to use this in a CL KO game.
Sané ---- Lewandowski ---- Gnabry
Davies - Thiago - Kimmich - Dest
Hernández -- Alaba -- Upamecano
--------------- Neuer ----------------

You DO know how much Boateng sucks in the air right?

and boa is superior in air ? the reason he is starting more like lucas is back from injury and hasnt really worked out with alaba but iam all for the 8 from boa in the game . if we cant win agaisnt a club who lost their best player and couldn't reinforce in summer also with equally novice manager we really need to look harder at ourself.

Sadly, no better options at the moment with Lucas coming from an injury. That's why we need Upamecano/Skriniar/Lenglet type of player to partner Hernandez, but who cares since they are not with German nationalities, and are going to cost more than 60m.

Boateng starts because he’s the only player available to play that position.
