It's a systemic problem that starts and ends with the coach. In the first leg, our right side was already suffocating to bring the ball out of the back. Süle is incapable of that, and we lost Kimmich, the only player in our right side (including Javi and Gnabry) who can put control over the wing. Instead of compensating for the lost of Kimmich by using Boateng, who can drive that side of the midfield, we stuck with exactly the same lineup on the right expecting similar results.

You will all have noticed this quite obviously by observing that most of our attempts came from the left. A side where we were not able to play Coman from the start so were stuck with Ribery, who despite the shortcomings were sending some outstanding, but unnoticed balls to the far post to where we would expect Kimmich, Goretzka or Müller to show up and finish.

We could've played asymmetrically by putting full power on the left (Ribery in my eyes were enough, but for the sceptics Gnabry could have played there too) and outlet on the right (could have played Goretzka in the traditional Müller role which he does so well, giving him license to do that by having Boateng exert control on the right a bit more). For God's sake, that's how we played most of 2012 and 2013.

Instead we were stuck with complete failure on the right, which made it far easier for Liverpool to defend the left and Lewandowski isolated.

A person with any half-decent football brain could've thought of this. Means our coach doesn't have it.

a person with normal brain never uses Ribery in this game.

Uli claiming that it’s acceptable to sacrifice title opportunities in order to give Ribery and Robben another year was the tipping point for me. A decade at the club is not enough? Franck’s transfermarkt value was €10m THREE years ago. Has he not had enough fun here?

I really hope Kahn can straighten this club out and put some serious fear into the rest of the board. We need hunger in the team from the top down. Uli has tasted too much success and it’s made him and KHR complacent. Riding the coattails of prior success will lead to long term mediocrity.

Even if you are that biased against Ribery, he sent some seriously good crosses that, if we had one of Kimmich, Goretzka or Müller, would've gotten our xG right up. Ribery's not even the main problem. There's no two ways about it.

Commiserations to BM. I was surprised with the performance I expected more attacking and less reservation.

All the best for rest of the season.

Thanks, outside of England I do enjoy watching BM. Maybe next year for the CL when you guys complete your transition period. Will take time to rebuild the squad the way fans and the manager wants.

Well we all hoped for more attacking and less reservation, but that’s what happens when your coach is afraid

We "won" ONE tie against a team actually worthy of playing CL knockouts since 2013... And that was a lucky one...

And Salihamidzic talks about our great quality...
