Yeah it's true, but lately (or maybe it's always been this way and I'm just recently noticing) it seems like English media (and/or fans) is being really bad in particular about fawning over a player when they're linked to a PL club and then swinging 180 degrees and putting them right in the crosshairs for every mistake once they've chosen a non-PL club... Just feels like sour grapes a lot of the time
Sure, but I assume he was talking about me... Which is weird cause I rarely single out individual blunders to shit in a player - unless they’re awfully stupid of course...

Usually it‘s the other way around

We always had those moments even when we had prime Neuer-Hummels-Boateng the brainfarts where there but at least Upamecano is 22-y and in a couple of years he will overcome those problems(if any)

Yes, I'm more than happy that we got him

But you can be sure he will make errors just like Boateng or Alaba or literally any CB playing in our system. And that's because our CB's need to take way more risks than others. Actually he made a catastrophical error vs Liverpool the other day (the one FCBayernMunchen is referring to) but was lucky that Liverpool didn't score. I would say his style is very similar to Boateng and Alaba

And we will soon read things like "Stupid Brazzo paying 40M for a garbage player like Upamecano" "We should have gotten X instead" etc. Cause grass is always greener on the other side.

It's the same with Neuer. Very rarely you will see other GK's making errors when coming out of their goals or passing the ball straight to the opponent. But that's because they don't take any risk and just give the ball away when they are under minimum pressure. Neuer plays like an outfield player and eventually he will make a bad pass and those who know very little about football will come out of their caves to say "HAHA NEUER FAIL LOL"

But for every error there will be dozens of promising attacks generated by having your GK playing the ball from the back like that

Something similar happens with Alaba. I'm the first one to criticise him when he deserves it. But I think he gets way too much undeserved hate pretty much on every game.

And I get it. He is leaving us and likely going to Real Madrid or even Barcelona. That sucks. But in terms of performances, I think he's having a good season and deserves to be a starter.

I'm aware of that however there are many factors contributing to errors.
The one you mentioned, the style of play of the teams, our defenders in the last decade where mostly ball-playing sophisticated CBs so they always had in their mind to "build" rather end the play.

What I try to point is that Upamecano will come to Bayern but not next to another ball-playing soft CB but partner with Lucas, a style of defender that we haven't seen in our ranks for many years and IMO that's the best fit for CB defenders. One who can distribute the ball and the other who serves as a bully by clearing balls and flying tackles. In theory their a good fit because they have different skillsets which complement each other.

Agree on most things... But there’s "forced mistakes" and straight out blunders... Meaning: some mistakes are NOT a result if higher exposure or whatever due to the system, but purely dumb... Take Süle against Gladbach and Frankfurt, for example... I expect a Bayern player (actually anyone with remote body control) not to fuck up shit like this - and REPEATEDLY...

The 0-1 against Leipzig however... THAT Neuer "mistake" is due to the system (though arguably still unnecessary)...

This City team is scary as hell. I didn't want to face them last year, this year even less.

They are City, that's first.

Guardiola is their coach in the CL that's second and the most important.

So, it means nothing at all before they reach final and ein it.

Could’ve said the same about us... I have not done the math, but pretty sure we lost more finals than almost everyone else...
