British clubs being rewarded for the British government’s shit response to the virus. I’m guessing the same applies to $hitty and Gladbach but that hasn’t been mentioned for some reason

At least yours was better the first time. We’ve had two waves of terrible death rates and overflowing hospitals. And the German government didn’t allow conditions for a new variant to spread in December

I hope so because it looks like UEFA might get its way with its atrocious CL proposals that are a deathblow to football next week.

What are those? I haven’t heard about that[/quote]It’s all a bit ambiguous but it’s some BS with a 36-team CL and no groups. Instead teams are all in one group but don’t play against everyone. They play 10 games each (4 more than currently) and those are determined according to ranking or something like that. Top 8 go directly into the QFs and the ones after into the last 16 I think.

Oh and there’s some ridiculous legacy qualification thing that basically means teams like Bayern and Real Madrid get to participate no matter what (even if we get relegated) and I think it will also mean 6 or 7 teams from the same country participate. It both ruins the CL and is an attack on domestic leagues.

I think they will vote on Tuesday, if I read correctly yesterday.

For what it's worth, I'm mostly against a European Super League, but I can see some advantages to it too.

This proposal seems motivated by the threat of the Super League but somehow it managed to implement the disadvantages of the Super League without any of the advantages.

European Super League is not for domestic fans it is for neural and specifically north American casual football fans. The fact that the want it to make the format as close as possible to boring North American Leagues it is a proof of that.

Money, money and just money. They don't care about old football values anymore. Even our Thomas Müller is talking about business in his recent statements.

It's for little kids who need to be breastfeed on hype and consumerism, not adults who watched football in the 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's.

I have nothing against this as long as they don't interfere in domestic leagues and their calendar. They can leave domestic championships and play their own league and let others to completely independently play their game, leagues and cups. Everything besides that I strongly disagree.

I seriously doubt people's love for money was anything lower in other times. It isn't people or their values that has changed, it's the circumstances. Back in the 70s you could not extract money out of Asia or wherever for the simple reason that they were very poor relative to the developed world. Similarly, people moved less from one country to another because technology was worse. There weren't cellphones, Skype, common currencies etc. In that sense, this whole moral narrative that you and Ramsej have is just misguided. If anything, what you "miss" is living in much a poorer world.
