I don't know, I think using a distinguishing feature is fine. I mean if he had really long hair, are you not allowed to say "the one with the long hair" for fear of being accused of being discriminatory on hair length?

It's not that black and white (lol pun intended), the line morally drawn by each person is arbitrary. Let's forget about the term "black" - I think most here would agree that it'd be insensitive to refer to a specific feature of a person if it's "the blind guy" or "the guy with one leg". So maybe some believe that skin colour is over that line, and some not. Ultimately, at this day and age the common denominator is that skin colour is now over that line for most people so it's your responsibility to be careful with words, for your own sake if not for other people's feelings.

See that's where we disagree. The people who are accusing the 4th official of racism are actually being racist and linking black to being inferior. Yes, being disabled or fat or whatever is an undesirable. But to get offended by 'black' means you inherently believe black skin to be an undesirable.

Is it Man United who go through with a draw? What's the tiebreaker?

I don't disagree but who's to say being fat or disabled are undesirable? It's completely arbitrary.

Anyways, my point is you'd be stupid not to put extra care on the words you say today - even if you don't mean it, you've only got yourself to blame. It doesn't matter how loud you shout about the other side being overly sensitive.

Yes but I'm sure that the guy meant no harm and no insult whatsoever yet these players decided to fuck his career and life big time with their arbitrary interpretation. I'd totally have been on board if he had said 'monkey' or something of the sort, but he said 'black'. He's labelled forever now. Almost feel sorry for him if he wasn't a match official
