So he averages 2 yellow cards per team per match. Thiago and Kimmich will be ours :/

Re: 2019/20 UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread

Postby aterford » Thu Aug 06, 2020 11:13 pm

Kind of tangentially related:

I looked at the same pool of referees (just this year's UCL referees) and looked at their stats for all competitions in 19/20, not just UCL, since for UCL the sample size ranges from small (6 matches at most) to laughably small and not really of any value (1 match, lol), while on average these same referees have officiated around 29 matches in all competitions this year.

So anyways, here are some of the same statistics, but expanded to include all of a given referee's matches this year, not just UCL.

Most Yellow Cards given per match, average
1. Sidiropoulos (GRE) - 6.1
2. Kovacs (ROM) - 5.7
3. Orsato (ITA) - 5.5
4. Grinfeld (ISR) - 5.3
-. Guida (ITA)
6. Lahoz (ESP) - 5.1
-. Rocchi (ITA)
8. Dias (POR) - 5.0
-. Kruzliak (SVK)
10. Kassai (HUN) - 4.9

Note that Kassai retired (good riddance) in December of 2019, so he has officiated less matches which does bring his average up. Something like 12 matches this season for him.

Least Yellow Cards given per match, average
1. Gozubuyuk (NED) - 2.3
2. Ekberg (SWE) - 2.6
-. Collum (SCO)
4. Makkelie (NED) - 2.9
5. Stieler (GER) - 3.1
6. Del Cerro Grande (ESP) - 3.3
-. Madden (SCO)
8. Kuipers (NED) - 3.4
9. Oliver (ENG) - 3.5
10. Buquet (FRA) - 3.8

And then perhaps this will be of interest:

Most Penalties Awarded per match, average
1. Rocchi (ITA) - 0.92/match
2. Kassai (HUN)
-. Guida (ITA) - 0.83
4. Karasev (RUS) - 0.80
5. Orsato (ITA) - 0.64
6. Marciniak (POL) - 0.62
7. Manzano (ESP)
-. Cakir (TUR) - 0.57
9. Kulbakov (BLR) - 0.50
10. Raczkowski (POL) - 0.48

Least Penalties Awarded per match, average
1. Jovanovic (SRB) - 0.13
2. Siebert (GER) - 0.15
3. Oliver (ENG) - 0.18
-. Lahoz (ESP)
-. Zwayer (GER)
-. Kabakov (BUL)
-. Kruzliak (SVK)
8. Aytekin (GER) - 0.20
9. Gozubuyuk (NED) - 0.21
-. Gestranius (FIN)

You may note that 3/3 Italian referees in the UCL find themselves in the top 10 for most likely to give away a penalty, while 3/5 German referees find themselves in the top 10 LEAST likely to give a penalty (Brych is 16th and Stieler 23rd out of 39), but I'm sure that had no bearing on this year's golden boot.....

Kassai is second in penalties awarded, and Cakir is seventh? Oh the irony...

Why isn't Bernardo Silva playing that much lately?

Man City will trash Real.... without Ramos the latter will be lost ...

So City will be in the final 100%

1) Because we can’t face Juve in the final.
2) Because I have no doubt we’d eliminate them easily... though they will never get past City/Real.
3) Neither would Juve.
4) You would too if your entire family supported Juve.
