Well, it’s going to sound arrogant but like we discussed the other day when we ran into each other during our walks, they should just put us through. It’s safer than playing a game that is very likely a formality. But of course there’s tv money and fairness in play, so no haha.

Anyone else finds this worrying? Here I was thinking that the Bundesliga restarting before other leagues would give us an advantage in the CL. It is likely that the Bundesliga would have already ended by the time the Champions League resumes, and depending on the timing, our players will either be exhausted or out of match practice, whereas teams from other leagues will be fresher.

Ehh... not particularly. The general consensus is the winter break is an advantage for us. It’ll more or less be the same amount of time, no?

Plus depending on how FIFA/UEFA tackle the issue we might have Sané, haha.

It'll be the exact opposite of the winter break. It's possible that our league would be finished (that is, tired players) while our opponents would have played like 3-4 league matches only and be fresher.

It depends how you look at it, I guess. The rest of the season is shorter than the Hinrunde and the players will have a break of more or less winter break length. I highly doubt they’ll be exhausted. Lack of match practice can be a problem though. Luckily Chelsea should serve as more of a friendly.

Other leagues might still be playing DURING the Champions League. That’s a definite advantage in our favour.

Of course all this assumes there won’t be leagues that are cancelled altogether.

As long as they find a way to finish it, I'm fine with everything. We have a big chance of winning this year!

No, we have near zero chance of winning it.

If they are planning with August 29 for the final, 2 days rest starting from August 27, two semis starting from August 25, two days rest starting from August 23 and 4 quarters starting from August 21, that puts the start of the quarterfinals 10 weeks after the end of the Bundesliga, during which we will play up to 2 matches (a potential DFB Cup final and a routine round of 16 match against Chelsea). It is already confirmed that the players will even go on holiday. The CL QFs for us will be like the first friendly of the preseason in terms of fitness. It will be super difficult to win given that only the French clubs will be less fit than us.

Now that it’s going to be played all in one week, I no longer quite agree with you. The rest will help.

I think this will be Atletico's year because of the "just one leg" thing but I won't say we have "near zero chance"...

I also find that the schedule is unfair. Depending on the luck of the draw, you will either get a 2 day rest or a 3 day rest.

Yes I thought of that... Unless they are going to play 4 games in one day which tbh is not inconceivable, especially with 2 kick off times.

Teams shall protest this format.

No matter the circumstances, I still think we have a big chance this year. I trust Flick, the players and the club to want to want it enough and figure it out.
