Seems like they finally have luck on their side and on 1 match they can be very strong. 2 legs were too much for them as they always become pussies in the second leg... but on one match we'll have to be very careful ...mbappe Vs Boateng and the back of our defense can be a nightmare
But they are weak in defense and half midfield so we will score for sure

Actually Bernat scored against Ancelotti at San Paolo in Napoli.

Of course the longer the tournament, the more money for UEFA. It's the same business motivation why NBA playoffs is (too) long. It's a win-win. The better team wins with a 2 leg format and more dates for tv money.

But knockout format is undeniably more exciting.

Good. The normal format is fairer.

This edtition of Bayern, if they keep going in style, might even be regarded as a better team than the 2013 edition. Or is the 2013 edition with legends like Ribery, Robben, Lahm and Schweinsteiger untouchable?

better team? I'd rather talk about a different team (not that much tbh). Anyway 2012/13 Ribery, Robben and Lahm would 100% bench Gnabry, Pavard, Coman/Perisic. Not sure about Schweini vs Thiago/Kimmich/Goretzka.

2012/13 will be more iconic because of the final vs BvB - frankly speaking a final against Leipzig would not be as fascinating as that was.

2019/20 we have already made history by destroying Barcelona - quite literally - everything is falling apart at that club.

in my opinion the 2012-13 team is held in a bit higher regard, since they were in the CL final two years in a row, plus they showed complete dominance for the entirety of the 2012-13 season, the three losses notwithstanding. plus, they also played more Champions League knockout games ultimately (two legs vs. single knock-out). Even though I think the team now is amazing, when compared to the 2012-13 team they will have an asterik just because of the Corona-impated schedule, plus Kovac.

That being said, if this team continues their dominance next season, they will be better than 2012-13.

This is being talked about. I think I saw an article somewhere calling this the best Bayern ever. My initial reaction was:

"Don't agree. The big and medium teams of the past 5 years or so (Madrid, Barça, Juve, Atlético, Dortmund) are all in a slump hence, Bayern's current level just pops out more."

But then I thought about what my combined X11 would be, and it's fairly balanced:

Lewy(20)
Ribery(13)-Müller(20)-Robben(13)
Schweini(13)-Thiago(20)
Davies(20)-Alaba(20)-Boateng(13)-Lahm(13)
Neuer(13)

The only points were I think there might be (reasonable*) disagreement would be Thiago vs Javi and Dante vs Alaba.

* arguing for Kimmich or Goretzka being better than Thiago is not reasonable.

What really irks me (and sorry for being repetitive) is that Gnabry and Sané could develope into Robbery-level players, and if we kept Thiago and added Upamecano, I might take 2021 over 2013.

I'd say Kimmich > Schweinsteiger but let's just wait until next monday to make our conclusions... Hell even Gnabry is debatable to get in that 2013 team. He's just too good in big games this season... But as I said, let's just wait until the season is finished. On a HIGH I hope.
