What chickens am I counting? I think you misunderstood my tweet, which by the way was 'liked' by professional football player and Ghana international Joe Mensah.

The 'best sight' should be winning a major team tournament like the World Cup (at international level) or the Champions League (at club level), and not scoring a completely irrelevant goal in the Champions League knockout, just so he can brag about scoring.

I never implied, nor can I understand how my Tweet could be interpreted as such, of him being unable to lift either the World Cup or the Champions League.

It's a shame to see as a fan a player revolving their career around Shearer's record, such that we won't get to see his skills being utilised by a good team, but there's really nothing wrong in pursuing your career in that manner if you're a footballer. Wanting your name on top of a list, rather than a World Cup, is a perfectly valid goal.

aterford wrote:Per 538 here are the odds to win the final, prior to today's matches
1. Man City - 24%
2. PSG - 16%
3. Barcelona - 14%
4. Liverpool - 10%
5. Bayern - 10%
6. Atletico - 9%
7. Real Madrid - 7%
8. Spurs - 5%
9. Ajax - 2%
10, 11, 12. Porto, Juve, Roma - 1%
13-16. Lyon, Dortmund, Man United, Schalke - <1%

And after today's matches...
1. Man City - 24%
2. PSG - 17%
3. Barcelona - 14%
4. Liverpool - 10%
5. Bayern - 10%
6. Atletico - 9%
7. Ajax - 7%
8. Spurs - 5%
9, 10, 11. Porto, Juventus, Roma - 1%
12,13, 14. Lyon, Man United, Schalke - <1%

And as of today, their updated match predictions...
Porto - Roma: 53% Porto win, 24% draw, 23% Roma win
PSG - United: 71% PSG win, 16% draw, 11% United win
City - Schalke: 90% City win, 8% draw, 2% Schalke win
Juve - Atletico: 46% Juve win, 29% draw, 25% Atletico win
Barca - Lyon: 80% Barca win, 14% draw, 7% Lyon win
Bayern - Liverpool: 47% Bayern win, 24% draw, 29% Liverpool win

That’s a little strange, even accounting for the fact that scored draws are good for Liverpool, that their chance of winning the CL are just as good as ours when Bayern have a 47% of winning compared to their 29% chance.

I really don't know whether to hope for this or not. I think Bayern can handle PSG. I'm not sure I can handle the fans. :P

What do you mean? The prediction? It was... But you go out on a dare often it seems, so you were almost overdue to be right...

I think if that game is played ten times, there is one that Ajax win... And in this fashion... RM were not at their best - but see what a great coach can do with talent? Ours is just meddling and has no clue...

Team A: Topped a CL group this season also featuring team B
Team B: Finished 2nd in the CL group also featuring team A. Yesterday, they thrashed team C.
Team C: Topped a different CL group but was eliminated yesterday, their first CL elimination since 13th May 2015.

No prizes for guessing who teams A, B and C are. The question, however, is... when you say "ours is just meddling and has no clue", are you by any chance referring to the coach of team A and praising the coach of team B whilst trying to argue the great importance of a coach to the results of a team?
