Well, they are the ones talking about 7 on top of the 9. Now either they made a gross subtraction mistake, misunderstood the DFL statutes, or else Sky is wrong.

In any case, by the DFL statutes, we have 16 players.

Ah, I understand what you mean now, @bastos80. So the DFL statutes say "mehr als 15" (more than 15), which technically should mean 16 or more if one is being pedantic, while Sky understood it as "15 or more".

The Pokal matches are scheduled for 18-19 January. Gladbach play in the Pokal on 19 January, then in the Bundesliga on 22 January, then the subsequent match is on 5 February. If anything they have one extra day of break than us since we play on 23 January. There are no internationals scheduled, so I'm not sure why teams have that weekend off. Perhaps they envisaged this situation and left it free? If so, all the more reason to ask for a postponement.

Because that's what the clubs agreed on before the season.

That tweet is from early this morning, while Davies was warming up preparing to unconsciously and potentially infect his teammates.

Sorry, but your point? I was just saying why Bayern would check if they can fill up the squad. Nothing to do with Davies potentially causing the rest of the team to go into quarantine, which is a big possibility, as I already said earlier.

My point is that if Bayern didn't see they had a good argument to postpone the match, it made a lot of sense to fill the bench as best as they could.

Now with Davies out, the dynamics changed, and the postponement request is more likely to be approved than before, so it's now a dilemma on what they should do. From Bayern's end, they would like the postponement. That's been revealed by Eberl.

So on one hand, if their match is to go ahead anyway, they'd better stock up on options.
On the other hand, if they are still hoping to get the match postponed, then they'd be shooting themselves in the foot getting more youths in.

In any case, if Davies is revealed to have the Omicron variant, it is likely that the whole squad ends up in quarantine. That would be a decision for the health authorities.

Why do you always have to make a debate out of non-existent topics? I already said it's a good possibility that the number of "available" players likely don't matter if Davies has Omikron. For the third time.
Besides, Bayern HAVE to check how to fill up the squad and how to organize it. The DFL don't care that the 2nd team is still on vacation. It's not a dilemma. If they don't do it, the DFL will just check the list of eligible players and point out that they theoretically have enough. The only way Bayern would shoot themselves in the foot is if they didn't find a way to fill up the squad, despite knowing they'd have enough.

Just because you think they're non-existent topics, doesn't mean they are.

In the same article I linked you earlier, you can read that the deadline for any youths or reserves to be added is for them to join today's COVID-19 testing along with the other players. Unless BILD are wrong, and given that we know they tested already (in fact we have Davies' positive result), it is already too late to add more players, unless they secretly tested them this morning/afternoon.

If they haven't undergone the required testing, DFL could try all they can, but they cannot legally allow any of them to even sit on the bench. In fact, if Vidovic didn't get tested due to his cold, then he should be out too.

It's only an inexistent topic if Davies has Omicron, and even then the health authorities can still give the go-ahead for the match to go on as planned since they have the final say.

Of course, if the whole team goes into quarantine we're going to have a scheduling issue because 2 matches will need to get postponed not just one.

As I said, the DFL don't care if the reserve team is still on vacation. The topic has been known for a few days now and Bayern should've brought them back earlier. If they fail to do so, that's on them. You even pointed out to me that we have enough technically eligible players with Vidovic and Schenk (didn't fact check, so I'll take your word on it), so there's absolutely no dilemma here. If anything, it's a huge fuck up by Bayern for not reacting fast enough and the only way the DFL can act here is cancel the game and punish Bayern for it.

You don't necessarily need to be technically eligible since it's still a case-by-case basis. For example, if hypothetically the match is going to go on as scheduled and the Gladbach team bus crashes on the way and all their players end up in hospital, then they'd still have enough technically eligible players, but the match would obviously get postponed. Bayern can still apply for postponement now, in fact they might have already for all we know.

The fact that we are waiting for Vidovic to recover from his cold or Suele and Goretzka to recover from the injuries that kept them out of training today in order to see whether we'd be able to field 11 players on the pitch or not is absurd. There's an actual possibility of seeing a goalkeeper playing in outfield, that's how much this match is crying for postponement.

So far, the indication is that it will go ahead, but things will change very quickly if those trio fail to recover.

IF THE DFL keeps up with the schedule it confirms my theory that Bayern does not belong to the Bundesliga!
