Hopefully Havertz isn't injured for this match...

I’d give Coman ample chances until the January window to prove himself to be elite so for me he starts this game. If he doesn’t improve until the Winter break, Bayern should seriously start considering selling him come summer.

And why until the winter break and not over the course of this season?

Coman is 23 and he has been far from poor or even mediocre this season.

After the winter break we can give Coutinho and Perisic more chances and make Coman the sub option.

And age should be no excuse for tolerating mediocrity. Yes Coman has been mediocre in the final third for too long.

Like I said Coman has been far from mediocre. His all around game has gotten a lot better than simply running down the wings and crossing the ball. His finishing is definitely something that needs a lot of work but even Robben and Ribery were hardly much when they were his age. The big numbers they put in, ie. 20+ goals by Robben or 20+ assists by Ribery didn’t come until they were at least 26/27.

Coman has done a good job finding pockets of space where he can be effective and delivering many great killer passes, so it’s hardly time to fight him off for the likes of Perisic.

As I said Coman has all the time to prove me wrong and do something. However this is a result based profession and if you can’t deliver then sooner or later questions will be asked.

Coman has to improve his output in terms of goals/assists and soon otherwise the Sané debacle looks more and more shambolic with each passing game.

Oh no doubt! Once upon a time Gotze was the golden child of German football but unfortunately fate had different plans. Its sad that he had a medical aliment that prevented him from realizing his potential but as you said, this is a result based profession where many are called and fewer are chosen. However, I just think at the moment Coman has shown a lot growth and maturity compared to his first couple years.

The Sane issue was out of Bayern's hands since he is under contract as a Man City player, and if they chose to be obstinate in not wanting to sell, risk injuring him in a meaningless friendly, or be obstinate in the transfer fee there is little Bayern can/could do. A lot of good it did them since he enters his final year this coming summer and if they expect to command a similar fee as last summer they have another thing coming.

The Sané issue was in Bayern’s hand. A starting bid of €105m should’ve been made instead of the €80-85m that was reported. The highest bid IMO should’ve been in the range of €130-140m. If you want the services of the best German winger then it comes with paying a premium in today’s ridiculously inflated transfer market. Delaying negotiations and playing cheapskate over the transfer resulted in the debacle. If we had got Sané and Perisic (as squad cover) in the summer then IMO we would have a really strong attack to cause any top UCL team problems.

And by the way I personally think guys like Coman and O. Dembele have more potential/natural talent than Gnabry but at the moment it is the latter who is translating potential into results.

Negotiation are always about leverage and Bayern felt they had more than Man City, which in my opinion Bayern did then and definitely have for sure now. The current season is hardly "a wash" especially after Kovac left which seems to have revitalized the whole squad. We will see in the business end of the season if it was truly a mistake since at the moment we are in the early days, especially CL wise.

I definitely agree with you about Coman and O. Dembele who by the way has been nothing but injury prone for Barca this season on top of more question marks on his professionalism. I think what Gnabry has over those two is his mental strength. Gnabry has had the same injury bugs in his young career on top of being a cast away in England where coaches like Pulis said he wasn't good enough. Coman and Dembele have had a much easier journey till recently compared to Gnabry who essentially had to fall from grace in England then prove himself at Weder Bremen and Hoffenheim. The comparison you made is a great personification that natural talent can only take you so far if you do not have the rigor and mental dexterity to go along with it. Not saying Gnabry isn't gifted but as you said not to the extend Coman and O. Dembele are.

Where do you get this... There WAS no official bid... That transfer was far from close or coming... And I still think it’s far from a sure thing Sané wants to come - and we still don’t even know how well he'll return...
