Definite offside to me in any case, but your black line doesn't seem right. If you must, try it again with a precise parallel to the line on the edge of the penalty box.

There are two physical lines:
a) the line of the penalty box
b) the line to the right of Mueller where the grass changes colour (top right of the edited photo)

lines (a) and (b) are not parallel, as you can note, and this is due to the perspective of the photo.

So the angle of the black line should be somewhere between (a) and (b). Now, given that the action is happening closer to (b), the angle of the black line needs to be closer to (b) rather than (a).

That's exactly where the black line is. I'm happy with the result.

Augsburg defenders’ knee still looks like it is playing Thomas onside.

Also yes there is a rule that benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker in offside situations. Have heard it many times being reiterated by the Premier League commentators. Also I clearly remember Thorgan Hazard was given this “benefit” last year when playing against us at Gladbach. He then won a penalty and Bayern lost the game 1-2.

No there isn’t... Kinda hilarious I gotta explain this to a guy who knows it all and has called my posting crap in this very thread... (see below)

Plus not a long time ago there was a rule which favoured the attacker in such cases... afaik!

I stand to be corrected.

Of course not! Are you serious? You're drawing the 'line' vertically rather than in line with the grass. I'd say around a half of Mueller's body is offside.
Ok I give that to you, but have you ever heard about that rule I mentioned?
The one that the attacker is given the benefit of the doubt...

It’s not a rule... It’s a MO or a code of conduct at best! There is no rule saying that, because rules only indicate right and wrong and never define any leeway (even though there is de facto leeway in some cases)
It’s mainly a commentator phrase, a relic from the old ages of black and white TV...
Offside is offside...

And the thing is: even if it WERE a rule, he didn’t doubt a second, cause he whistled right away and didn’t even call VAR, who should erase all "doubts" you might have to justify such a "rule" anyway...
- Rangnick or ten Hag in!
- Bring a DM, a winger (Sané) and Havertz!
- Get a REAL sports director (Rangnick?)!
- Keep Hoeness and Rummenigge far away from the team!

Right, took a while but I think I got it. Definitely offside.

Wrong. The angle is good but it should be shifted to the left. That knee is not touching the ground, it's in the air. So the line should cross over the grass under which there is the knee.

Yes correct, this was just to put it beyond doubt. The knee will never be as far away to the right as it looks like, but even if it is, it still wouldn't have made him onside.

Basically with the left-shift applied you'll be very close to the black line I did freehand.

How much time did that take you? Very nice effort! Sorry for being blunt starting my reply with "wrong", having a bad day.

However long it took, it was too much time for an action that is very obviously offside without the lines

Ahaha no worries. You can shift if but the accuracy will decrease, since the angle will change depending on the position of the axis although this is probably negligible. Didn't take too long, maybe just over half an hour? Just enjoy mathematics in general really.

The beauty is in the process, not the result

Let us wait how Augsburg will play today vs bvb...
Will they play the same as they did against us?

Yes, but they’re playing a good team now...
There’s nothing "team" about the way we play recently, and that’s why we lost...

The team needs to be supported and not to be bashed
