How so ? It is anything but “clearly” offside. Ronaldo’s goal against Bayern in 2017 in ET was “clearly” offside. This one is touch and go.

If I was a snowflake I would have reported this post as a “personal” attack but since I’m not I’ll let this slide. Also, I suggest you to make better use of your time online than diagnosing random strangers you’ll never know IRL with “crap” vision.

Thank god!

And YOU started the crap shit ;)

I agree it’s not "clearly" offside, but it was enough for him to call it off without VAR... So there’s no reason at all to get worked up about it, cause it’s the right decision...
- Rangnick or ten Hag in!
- Bring a DM, a winger (Sané) and Havertz!
- Get a REAL sports director (Rangnick?)!
- Keep Hoeness and Rummenigge far away from the team!

Semantics. Does definitely offside rather than clearly offside suit you better? What I mean is that I can make a decision without the need for some software to draw a line for me.

It's close but doesn't require further analysis. It's offside.

That was not an off side... the Aug defender has his knee in line with Mueller.

Plus not a long time ago there was a rule which favoured the attacker in such cases... afaik!

I stand to be corrected.

Nothing annoys me more as a 25 year old than the word snowflake. Particularly when used against me by right wingers when I raise valid concerns about the future and where the country is headed. Sorry to go off topic. Just wanted to put it out there. If it makes me a snowflake so be it

The word should be banned along with anyone who uses it.

Of course not! Are you serious? You're drawing the 'line' vertically rather than in line with the grass. I'd say around a half of Mueller's body is offside.

I haven't but it makes sense, because let's face it, just because you're 2cm offside you don't have the advantage which the offside rule is meant to counter. But then you have the problem of determining the cut-off point, so it is better as it is now.

Isn't the defender given the benefit of the doubt usually? Eg if a defender collapses in the box with the smallest of touches, the referee usually whistles foul for the defending team.

Anyway there's VAR.

Augsburg defenders’ knee still looks like it is playing Thomas onside.

Also yes there is a rule that benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker in offside situations. Have heard it many times being reiterated by the Premier League commentators. Also I clearly remember Thorgan Hazard was given this “benefit” last year when playing against us at Gladbach. He then won a penalty and Bayern lost the game 1-2.

AU, over half of Thomas' body is offside. Did you not see the image you replied to? For sure Mueller's right leg is completely over the line. It's not even up for debate, it's definite. I'd say his balls are too, but it's not easy to tell from this shot. Also, if you look closely you'll notice you can see Mueller's foot which is virtually VERTICALLY in line with the defender's knee. So even if you were to cheat and draw the offside line as a completely vertical line (which is dumb given the perspective of the photo and the angle of the grass), it still would be hard to say the knee is keeping him onside.

Basically the red line is the offside line you're seeing which is a far cry from how it should be (look at the grass).

Only this way can Mueller be onside.

If that's not offside, I'm John Terry.

So you think the offside line should be the red line instead of the black line? Did you even see the image? I'll put it again. It's only onside if the angle you should take for the offside line is the red line (which almost touches the tip of Mueller's boot). I think the angle that should be used is the black line. Most importantly is the point you take below the knee (the grass). It's not vertically downwards because the player is not lying down on the grass. It needs to be taken with perspective of the photo in mind and therefore it starts in the intersection between the red and black lines, IMO. I really don't understand why I'm having to explain what is painfully obvious to me.

Maybe I'm going bonkers. Maybe I really am John Terry. Anyone else cares to share their thoughts?
