Just watched the replay: incredible how Germany deflated as the competition progressed.

Amazing ... I notice this in almost every tournament Germany's youths are involved in. Even last summer's U20 WC.... That PSo against a modest (with due respect) african tm.
The senior tm is famous to flop in the final or SF and the younger ones fall slightly before.
Yest they were very careless both in defense and attack. That #2 BVB player is amazing though.

"We fought like lions and won it" - Josip Brekalo said after the match.

There are high expectations from this U-17 team on this tournament as well as in the future to become professionals and future A-team members.

This is the Croatian U-team which I mentioned once in context of 11 Dinamo Zagreb cadets playing in the first eleven of Croatia team. Thera are only 5 non-Dinamo players, because players from Lokomotiva are automatically counted as Dinamo Zagreb members.

that GK is pure class... he made a challenge which impressed me ... He risked committing a penalty but he remained ice cold and took off the ball from the attacker. =D>

Dinamo's Adrian Šemper. This U-17 tournament in Chile is also very special. Why? Because of the previous World Cup 1987 in Chile and Golden generation who won back then playing for Yugoslavia. All the players later made great careers, played between 1994-2002 for Croatia team who won bronze 98', some of them became world-class players...

Croatia expects from the new 'Chileans' to repeat the same, especially on the mental level. The lack of a character, mental strength is something where Croatian young players have failed for the last 15 years.

Unfortunately Italy were better in 2006... In 2012 the performance was BS, yes... But I don't think any team made it to the final more often... Somehow similar to the club I'm devoted to... #-o

I know... Germany could be the team that lost the most finals. As for Bayern only Juve surpass us...
Germany v Italy 1970 S/F
Germany v Italy 1982 final
1990 God spared ''us'' that encounter
1996 0-0 draw in group stages
2006
2012

even the Italians themselves are always confident when they meet germany.(and on the other hand germans will be already afraid when they think that they have to play Ita) I remember so clear that prior the sf in 2012 they were already discussing the f**** final... HMoG they are this confident... I couldn't believe what i was listening to!
The eyes of the players showed their nervousness and uneasiness during their coming in on the pitch and I remember telling this to my friends at our club.

and believe me to be a Germany supporter is not easy to live in Malta during such tournaments. 48% of ppl support Eng another 48% support Italy the rest Germany and some Brazil and now (the younger gen) spain.

The one that wins is better in the paper and that's what matters in the end.
When a team wins a tournament scraping all their way, I think that's a case where the coach has to take more credit. Like what Otto Rehhagel achieved with Greece in 2004, that success can only be attributed to him.
In the late 90' after being sacked by Bayern, Otto was hired by Kaiserslautern and relagated to the 2nd division, got promotion the next year and won BuLi. That was a madman...
I'm afraid that Italians were always ahead of us in the tactical approach in such games... that's the only reason why they've been so successful throughout history against Germany, NT and club level. Italians are not afraid to push you, hold you in set pieces, slow down the game, unlike Germany that plays smth like "let the best win".
The only NT that can say that has beaten Germany playing a FAIR football often are Brazil, but I'm not sure that they'd like to start a convo about that from their last home WC. Spain were long from a threat to Germans until of late... we've got some undone homework there too, but I guess we're too late for that since Netherlands took good care of them. :P
Neuer played a big role in the last WC, but I think that Der Titan's performance in 2002 was a one time thing. If it wasn't for his blunders in the final, I'd dare to say that he was better than Messi and the best player ever.

But it is not like Italy rolled over Germany either, they did not score until the 119th minute. I say they were both equal until history repeated itself to determine the outcome of the game just before the final whistle.

This after Italy had played with mixed results being troubled by a poor USA side in the Group stage and beating Guus Hiddink's Australia in the Round of 16th with a questionable penalty call in the last minute of injury time, the call was basically for obstruction and a dive.

But I get the point, historically Italy had Germany's number and no one can deny that.

Croatia are out against impressive Mali.
There is a chance of an all African final...
Though I am tipping Mexico to reach the final ... against Mali for the final
Semi finals are Mali vs Belgium & Mexico vs Nigeria
