list of Brazilian players playing in Europe...I was looking for any other striker who could have done better than both Fred & Jo. I think Benfica's Lima or Coutinho as false9 could have done much better [source]

Firmino too of Hoffenheim. But then again if Scolari passes Coutinho and Moura up, he might not even know Firmino. lol

Well, remember the Lisabon final and that 4th goal after hadn't shown anything on that match, like he was a real hero?

He's so right, especially about the both Portugal and Italy performance on the World Cup.

A bit of a bewildering choice for manager. Not someone who is radically going to change the team, and not someone who played with the flair the fans expect (and certainly didn't set up his previous Brazilian side for flair).

Brazil, the team, media and fans were a joke at the world cup, almost comic in the expectations on such a clearly mediocre set of players.

Niko Kranjčar: What's Next for Croatia's "Forgotten" Genius?

Physical inferiority, ie speed, acceleration and pace cost Niko great career. Only because of these flaws he couldn't see great clubs, but everything else is awesome.

Sorry I'm not familiar with him, read the article is he a CAM? Maybe if he wasn't a CAM but a CM he would have maximized his potential and not playing in PL, where atheleticism is prefered over technical ability.

Reminds me of what I read on Balague's book about Guardiola when he was a player. Not the fastest, not the strongest, not the tallest but Cruyff taught him to use his head to overcome his weaknesses. Like instead of jumping for headers, anticipate where the opponent controls the ball.

Not every player gets everything work out for them sadly.

Not sure whether this is the right thread ; but I still remember the words coming from the mouth of a certain clown called felipe scolari during a press conference prior the game vs Col were he said this" Do you want to hear it? Yes we are going to win the WC and we already have one hand on it''
I also remember posting it here and writing ''1950 reloaded...''

Yes, he is a CAM at first. Niko played in Tottenham even LM, but after Redknapp's decision to move Bale in the midfield, his career was over.

He is way too slow for the football in the last 5 years, but all in all for the last 13 years, as well.

In the 90's he would probably be a very good player, but in 2000's and nowdays... Niko can't catch the spot at Dynamo Kijev., either.

One sad story about a guy who possessed everything what it takes to be a fantastic attacking midfielder and main playmaker in the team, but his speed has been presenting the key barrier to succeed on the highest level.

He is also aware of that fact and as it said in article, he said once in public that he would only wish that thing in his football capacity. With that, Niko would be Croatian number one star, not Luka Modrić.

It's a very sad story. Imagine, every player would pass you on the field and then no wonder why you often would get frustrated, pick up many yellow cards for that.

Even butchers like De Jong, Gravesen or a guy like Riquelme who was also considered slow player when he played at Villareal, but not that much.

Huuuuuuuge talent, but large deficit of athletic components and that's why Kranjčar hasn't reached the stars even though he had one great season at Tottenhem, that was the one when the club succeeded to qualify in CL and after that Bale kicked him out of squad, permanently.
