Amnesty found many were effectively held hostage by employers and forced to work up to 14 hours a day, for months at a time without pay, in temperatures of up to 113F (45C), and without adequate access to water, safety equipment, or medical care.

Many workers’ living conditions were found to be “squalid”, with some sleeping up to 15 to a room in labour camps lacking electricity, running water or air conditioning, and with sewage leaking from the streets.

The report details claims of physical violence and blackmail, with one employer recorded referring to staff as “animals” and another accused of treating them “like cattle”.

Examples of migrants being lured to Qatar under false pretences are documented, as well as their desperate attempts to flee a country in which doing so is a criminal offence without an employer’s permission.

Workers are therefore described as being in a “Catch 22” situation, with some even said to have threatened suicide after losing all hope of escape. [source]

Qatar, the country with highest Salary Average and tons of Money ,cant Put Electricity and ACs in the rooms of workers!!!

My neighbor works in Qatar as an engineer for a company that is responsible for constructions for the World Cup 2022 , and his Contract is probably a dream contract for every engineer!

wow, gotta say, I was moved by this. Sometimes we lose perspective of things and forget that players are also humans with real feelings. Suprised by the reaction of the Lazio fans considering their hyper-ultra reputation.

What a guy! When footballers transfer to another club, the first thing that comes to mind is always money. =D>

This article is really good (and a bit funny imagining it)

Edit: Actually the whole series is good, I'd recommend reading them!

What happened to grass pitch design variety ? Haven't seen a football pitch shaped in circles or other variety in a long time.

UEFA Nations League receives green light.

The competition will feature promotion and relegation, will see a winning team every odd year and will replace most international friendlies.

Starting in 2018. [source]

Finally! A sensible step for international football.

Do you think so? I think players and clubs alike won't be so happy...
I think apart from the sponsors only the physiotherapists and doctors are to gain from this...

Well we are likely to see an increase in games, so yes. But it is better than releasing players for pointless friendlies. At least the games will serve a purpose now.

I rarely watch NT friendlies. This will make me watch their games again.

I think this is worthy of a topic of its own.

I'm a bit sceptic about this since if the friendlies become competitive then there is more demand on the players, although here http://www.uefa.com/community/news/newsid=2079553.html#uefa+nations+league+need+know

it says
Will this mean more demands on players and clubs?

No; the UEFA Nations League and European Qualifiers will adhere to the existing agreed international match calendar. UEFA is always keen to preserve the balance between club and international football. The new competition should, in fact, reduce demands on players and clubs with less travel envisaged for friendly matches while national teams will be playing more consistently at their own level. With double-header matchweeks, players will even go back to their clubs earlier than is currently the case.
