Brazil losing to Chile is the expected result, though. They are the Copa America reigning champions after all.

I feel both insulted and relieved that mediocre players like Fabregas or Cazorla get chosen above Thiago. If Spain wants to win something, they need to let Vicente del Bosque go.

Spain could be a seriously great team if they chose their actual best players instead of the EPL-based ones:

Isco-Morata-Silva
Thiago-Busquets(Javi)-Koke
Alba-Ramos-Javi(Pique)-Carvajal
De Gea

Shaqiri and Xhaka are both on the bench for Switzerland BTW.

So let me get this straight: you are defending that arguably our best midfielder, which happens to be extremely injury prone, should get called out to the international break, where players usually go down like flies, just to make Spain better ?!

Yeah, f#ck that... :D

Hey! I said "I'm both insulted and relieved". I'm not advocating Thiago's inclusion in the Spain NT. For all I care, Vicente del Bosque can keep him forever on the bench and never win anything. Just commenting on his stupid choices.

If anything, I've always felt antipathy towards the Spanish NT. Always thought their WC win was the most undeserved in recent times and that Netherlands should have won.

Ah, ok ... I wish VdB continue to not call him up ...

And that Dunga stop calling Douglas Costa...

And that Löw stop calling Müller, Götze, Neuer and Boateng... :D

I have an idea on how to reduce international games once and for all & also less domestic games.
As for internationals my suggestion is this:
Uefa: the lowest teams will play each other in different group stages: the winners of each group will then be mixed with the big guns. This will avoid the elite teams unnecessarily travel. With this measure there will be like 4 / 6 matches less.

Africa & Asia can do the same as Europe

S.America. Instead of just one group there will be 2 groups with a home and away fixtures. The top 2 tms from each group will go through. This avoids 4 games.

As for domestic leagues. No more 18 or 20 but 15/16 clubs per every domestic league.

But for the national teams it can work.
As for clubs Platini said it himself a couple of yrs ago that he wants less tms in any given league.
But do yoy agree that in principal it makes sense?

I think a better option would be to have no international breaks at all. NTs should play all the matches after the season has finished or before start of the season. NT players will get to train together for more time and will be better accustomed to NT tactics. The trainers will be better able to judge fitness levels too.

But that means no break... Players will be burned as if it is the WC every year...

Ok, I MEANT the NT's ;)
They want their peace of that pie, as does Uefa...

As for playing in the summer - that'd be awesome... I don't think they'll do it though...
But if the planners do their job well, the regular seasons will be more concise and thus it shouldn't be the same as with WC's - there should still be enough time to rest...

Controversial Palermo President M.Zamparini refused to let go two of his players to join the Swedish NT. They were initially not nominated by their respective FA only to call them at a later date...However Palermo had planned to go for a specialized training programme before their crucial match vs Bologna since they are coming from a four defeats in a row. [source]
=D> Well done to Maurizio Zamparini,
he is receiving a lot of criticism however he acted according to uefa regulations as the players were not nominated in the first call up.
In fact he has the uefa backing for it.
This might be the first precedent.
