Rooney touched the ball (ponta :P). It was a foul because Scwheini did not touch the ball and 'prevented' Rooney from continuing with his run even though he could have jumped over but did not deserve a yellow card. As I said before, he did not tackle Rooney's feet like against Carrick.

Still I feel it is Schweini's fault. He didn't need to slide tackle in the 90min near the opponent's penalty area.

From watching the game last night in HD on tv I had the impression that Rooney kicked it away. I think unfortunately in this day and age in football players are going to make the most out of a tackle, especially because fussballgott was already on a yellow card. I think although it was a harsh decision given the leniency on Valencia a few minutes earlier which was also a second yellow, I can see how this justified a second yellow card from the referees POV. We can watch it back again 1000x in a row from close up, referees have to make the decision in an instant from a long distance away. I am gutted Schweinsteiger will miss the home leg, but is always dangerous going in for this kind of tackle when you are already booked.

Statistics are like miniskirts . What they reveal is tantalizing, but what they hide is crucial.

I think this time it was for real... the granada's defender shoulder hit Neymar in his chest...

What do you think the physios think when a player goes down ? "Here we go again. Don't forget the magic water and spray with you Mike." Do they feel like they are being taken for a ride as well ? But then again I guess they are paid pretty well so they won't mind.

It wasnt diving...those two collided and you could clearly see that neymar collided with opponents elbow. And if he got that elbow directly to his gastric plexus [stomach]...than that really hurts and you cant breathe. I believe that really happened because it looked like it and it would be stupid to waste time when you are 1 goal down.

Anyone who played some football probably knows how these things hurt.

It looks to me like it hit him higher up than the stomach, but there is a good chance you are right. I know how much that can hurt.

@Mackoy: they are part of the team and I would imagine they can usually tell whether it's a dive or not and are happy when a dive goes in their favour.

Neymar's twitch from the collision when he is diving is phenomenal if he can add some convulsions when he is on the floor then we can talk about art!

If you ask me,I'd take any time the NBA rule about flopping, you dive? pay a fine
It's tricky because if you win a penalty or a red card at crucial match by diving then a 10.000 to 30.000 fine is nothing and the damage you made is still there but something has to be done.

0.08

for god's sake in front of referee's eyes,he realizes that he can't reach the ball and then "let's dive"

My favorite ever is still Andy Moller's, for 3 reasons:

1) It was called a penalty
2) He played for Dortmund
3) It was a blatant dive
