They should hand out 5 match bans for diving with a 0 tolerance policy. Its a shame that this happens at all.

The double dive by Pepe and Fabregas was even more hilarious

Mehmet Scholl once offered a mixtape CD to Oliver Kahn. Kahn replied: Do you want me to shoot myself? Keep your crap to yourself.

This is not a dive. As in, the contact was there. Rooney could almost definitely avoid Schweini by jumping over him if he wanted, but you could see he looked for the foul. But the foul was there in the end, and this wasn't a dive.

Well, Basti made a good tackle.

Rooney made a meal out of it. That over-jump is what I'd call a blatant dive.

I think Bayern should contest it along with Mandzukic's yc : anybody recalls it? but I know they won't...

If you ask me from this angle even the contact is questionable. But even if there was contact it is Rooney's fault for not jumping over him, as every other player would have done. I don't see how it could have been a yellow card.

I still don't understand if it was Rooney or Schweinsteiger who kicked the ball away.

Crystal clear, it was Basti. :|

See, that's what I found confusing, because I don't understand why we are talking about it not deserving a yellow rather than talking about Schweinsteiger making a clean tackle on the ball and not having even made a foul.

I think most people agree it wasn't a foul, at least most I've spoken to.

Even if it was a foul, I think a yellow in that situation would have been harsh considering Valencia was allowed to get away with a worse one. Someone mentioned that this was the same referee who carded so many of our players against Marseille 2 years ago. He either hates us or he's just a bad luck charm. Hopefully we won't see such situations next week, for neither team.

But if it was indeed Schweinsteiger who touched the ball (I still have some lingering doubts because Rooney looks like he puts his foot in that direction too), what could possibly be seen as constituting a foul? It's not a high heel and it's not two-footed. The only logical explanation I can come up with is that the referee must have thought that Rooney pushed the ball away, or that Schweinsteiger hit Rooney before the ball (which he clearly didn't).
