Copa América: Chile 2015

Postby tflags » Thu Jun 18, 2015 11:24 am

Nothing new last night other than your usual post game bust up between Neymar and some Colombia hot head. Firmino, btw, a huge disappointment. Missed a sitter and Gustavo apparently is either ill or not preferred by Dunga. A huge surprise since he - Dunga - is a confessed Bundesliga believer.

Jackson Martínez, a huge favourite of yours truly, sitting on the bench being the low point of the night other than Zúñiga being on his best behaviour, didn't break anyone's back this time around. Well, Cup ain't over yet.

4 games off for Neymar. That means he will miss the final - even if somehow Dunga becomes a wizard and sends this team to the final.
I am having an ice cream party.

yest I managed to watch my first match (thanks to tflags)
Ecuador 2-1 Mexico
After the match they were saying about the ban...wow 4games! He needs to work out much more to have a the fanboys base as Messi's and Penaldo's...
Was not initially a 2 match ban?

It was 3, then reduced to 2. BUT apparently Neymar started cursing the ref when leaving the pit and therefore 4 matches. :D

Well done, asshole.

He didn't pose a bad attitude. He showed a very stupid one. I'm not sure what exactly the ref reported but he kicked (??) someone after the ref whistled the game over and he got his marching order as he was already approaching the tunnel. He's becoming a liability with that attitude and you can see in every Liga game they target him for due reason.

In all fairness, however, he got a stupid card for a clearly unintentional hand ball and all through the game the ref didn't stop the Colombians from kicking him over and over again. Last time around, he almost got paralyzed and these referees don't even bother warning the players, much less showing up a card. I can understand him up to a point, but the way he's going about showing discontent is plainly childish.

I didn't see it, but I've been reading that the red came after he kicked the ball at a Colombian player after the whistle. Not sure if the ball hit the Colombian or not. Then he confronted the ref at some point later.

It's being reported that he can appeal, but I haven't found any details about that process.

oops...according to this report Divemar called the Referee SOB for no less than 5 times and it was thanks to D.Luiz that things did not escalated even more. He will also be fined 10,000 $... However the CBF will be making an appeal to at least reduce the ban for three games. [source]

TBH I believe that they will win the appeal and he may become available again for an eventual final.

Every article says Brazil will appeal, but nothing says when the hearing will be.

Watching Brazil vs Venezuela now... Neymar is watching from the stands.
I have a feeling that the last years 7-1 Semi Final losers in the WC will be winning this match by 4 goals to nill.
