I have no idea what Del Bosque was thinking with Martinez

The loss is very harsh on Italy but they had it coming. They missed way too many chances in the first half and never really got into the game again after that, except for that time they hit the post. Spain dominated extra time just as much as the Italians dominated the first half. A draw was fait but unfortunately a winner had to be chosen.
Super Bayern! Super Bayern! Hey! Hey!

In a post match interview Del Bosque said that Torres was very tired and the team needed more physique and aerial presence so he decided to put Javi Martinez on because he is a strong box to box player who can play anywhere on the field

BTW if you guys like Guardiola... Del Bosque is even humbler and nicer guy

Ironically that Gustavo was benched while Javi and Dante were starters with us and he was the first sub always
And in this whole tournament the opposite is the rule

Now finale

Brazil lack creativity, a team will always have a very hard time being succesfull without a good playmaker. I still dont get why players like Oscar get to play from the start and the almighty Ronaldinho who is really kicking ass in Atletico isnt even in the squad for the tournament. He would still be the best midfielder in the team, great vision and passing.

Also, why isnt Ramires playing? He is doing well at Chelsea...

My Brazil squad would be this:

Cesar - Alves, Silva, Dante, Marcelo - Gustavo, Ramires - Neymar, Ronaldinho, Hulk - Diego Costa

They would have everything here. Gustavo with only defending job, Ramires as box to box midfielder. Ronaldinho as a creative playmaker, Neymar and Hulk to add a bit of brilliance and speed. Costa as a strong striker to add some muscles, also not a bad footballer.

I really dont understand Scolari's decisions about the squad. Even Lucas Moura is on the bench and he would do SO much more than Oscar.

Look at the best teams in the world.

Italy have Pirlo and Montolivo if necessary.
Spain have well, a shitload of creative players, would take to long to name them.
Argentina have Messi and Di Maria who are great passers when in form, especially Leo.
England - I never understood why they couldnt be succesfull with Lampard - Gerrard duo. But if you think about it, their biggest strengh is great shot and stats for midfielders, not the vision.
Portugal and France - perfect example of what Im talking about. So what they have Ronaldo, Ribery and so on if they lack the world class playmaker? It really makes the difference.
Croatia - pretty average team but they have Modric and he runs the whole game for them.
Germans are very well balanced with Schewinsteiger or sometimes Gundo + Ozil.

So to sum up, Brazil have creative players but Scolari doesnt want to use them. I think thats a big mistake.

None, I guess. Brazil winning Confederations Cup would just shoot their egos up the roof. Spain, well, that could too. :|
More than that the band wagoners on the winning side could go as high as the sky.
Neymar ballerinas (that's what I call his fans  ), would jump on the Barca train and you know that would mean a minimum drop of 10% in the average 'rational sense' score of Earthlings.

Plus, I've always been 100% on Germany's side for more than a decade.
Until, of course, India makes it into the WC(hopefully before I draw my last breath*). [-o<

Well, it's fun to know what someone else has to tell about your future. I'm amused about the way they talk about things. Of course, I haven't gone to a professional. Don't wanna spend my money on something like that. Few friends interested in these guide me about my short future. Ba*tards.

I like your Brazil team, to be honest. Looks very well balanced.

Lampard and Gerrard, simply put, get in eachothers way. Whether playing alongside eachother or Gerrard playing ahead of Lampard, they simply can't adapt their game as to not cramp eachothers precious, precious midfield space. It's one or the other with those two - Lampard in a 4-4-2, Gerrard playing behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1.

Of course now it's too late for both of them, they've declined magnificently since 2010 or so and shouldn't make the team anyway.

I've not watched any of this tournament so far. Might watch the final.

Spain for me. I've never liked the Brazil national team even when they had all the superstars in the team lol (it's just a personal thing though, don't burn me! )

My first football memory ever was Germany losing to Brazil 2-0. My first lasting memory as a serious football fan was Germany losing 1-0 to Spain.
I hope Gustavo, Martinez and Dante are ruled out with slight injuries and then both teams burn.

I am not sure Hulk has contributed anything to his team on this cup nor do I think he should play in the final. And I agree with your assessment on Ramires, not only him being a marked improvement over Paulinho but I would go as far as trusting him with Hulk's spot further up. I am not sure why he is not even in the tournament.
