The more I think about it, the more I find that these Chinese with their pharaonic investments are far from being stupid. Imagine a market with +2 billion potential consumers in China and Southeast Asia. The forecasts for growth are huge, and that's why I think Western markets are not targeted at all.

To create a buzz and attract the audience for a start, there is nothing better than football stars, and from that pespective, they seem to have no financial limit to lure them.

I'm starting to consider them as a serious threat to European football... the money they're willing to throw is mind boggling.

What's with the elitist attitude? Funny how Europeans complain about South Americans and Africans moving to Asian clubs. Europe has been hoarding non-European stars for decades and South America should've been the football capital of the world if not for European money. Don't be an arse.

I'm loving the Chinese investment. Hoping to see Asian football becoming relevant in my lifetime.

I would really like non-European clubs to be able to compete with Europeans. It would make the CWC worth something and pave the way for a proper WC tournament. I'd much rather it was South Americans though, both because of tradition and because of China's exploitation of people to make money.

Chinese Super League spending is 'sick' - Bayern Munich's Uli Hoeness [source]

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has labelled the spending power of Chinese clubs "sick" the day after Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was linked to a world-record €150 million move to Shanghai SIPG.

Speaking in a special interview to celebrate his 65th birthday on Thursday, Hoeness told Sky Sports News Deutschland: "It's sick. It's nothing but sick."

"I only hope that it's just a phase like we had in America at one stage."

Hoeness likened China's financial power to the 1970s, when world-famous stars such as Franz Beckenbauer, George Best, Pele and Gerd Muller were all attracted to the North American Soccer League (NASL) on big-money contracts.

He added: "At that time, clubs like New York Cosmos with their money wanted to build in five years what had taken others 50 years.

"Hopefully, everything doesn't turn out as bad as it looks at the moment."

Hoeness, a former Bayern player and general manager, was re-elected to the role of Bayern president in November.

His first spell as president ended when he was imprisoned for tax evasion in 2014, serving 21 months of a three-and-a-half year sentence.

According to FIFA, the Chinese competitive game cuju (蹴鞠, literally "kick ball") is the earliest form of football for which there is scientific evidence.

If the Europeans did the same it would be considered racism. How come this is a good idea to you and the electoral college isn't?

So what's the tie breaker? Chances are there might be equal number of goals scored by nationals even then.
