Don't know if you were aware or not but yesterday friendly 'tween France vs Italy represented the first time VIDEO evidence was used proactively during an official match.

Aaaand it seems to be working. As soon as this first match there was a situation where Italians created a goal situation which was - according to them - a handball deflection by the french. Referee Kuipers asked the players to shut up until he received word from the booth and it seems it took around 24 seconds for them to transmit back their verdict: No hand, No penalty.

And football has changed. Forever.

Oh please, there are plenty of things in life that don't fall into logic, the laws of physics, statistical relevance or the like. Muller's stamina, Neuer's gravity or Robben's 2009 left leg. That video is just another case in point.

Was coming here to post it.
Fifa Pres said that it will be tested again next March in Milan for the Italy Germany friendly match.
However the Ref decide whether to consult the other team in the van(cause they stay in a van)

Tbh I would rather have people running for 90 minutes than Ribery stretching the cramps out of opposition players around the 100th min every time there's a CL tie.

They should introduce unlimited subs and maybe even the possibility to sub players back in during ET. It solves the problem you pointed out that sometimes teams prefer to play for penalties when it goes to ET.

Stuff like this is proof that ET is not necessarily a case of players lazing about for 30 minutes because they don't have the energy to play anymore:

And that was against none other than Manuel Neuer, so the chances of it happening should have been minimal.

Full run :)

Do you mean 15th November 2016? There's an Italy vs Germany friendly on that day, in Milan.

It's not in our calendar yet because there's no kick-off time yet, and until yesterday there wasn't even the venue named. I'm not sure if I should assume 20:30 or 20:45 but since there's more than 2 months left we can wait.

Good that you mention this, because eerily enough I noticed that Italy vs Germany was played in the same stadium exactly 3 years to the day before this scheduled match.

Oh lord ! These bloody international breaks are killing me ...

Club and international football MUST be separated entirely so players aren't called up by their countries when their clubs are still playing !!!

Really bad ideas here.

I think the best idea was passed on by Magath. If two teams end in a 0-0 draw, they both lose (0 points).
In order to get a point, a team needs to score at least one goal.

If the relegation-threatened club is parking the bus against a top team, and the score is 0-0 after 88 minutes, they have to come out of their defensive shell and try to score: if they manage to score the only goal of the match, they get 3 points. If they concede a goal instead, they still end up on 0 points (no disadvantage except for goal difference).
