The Finnish Broadcasting Company, "Yle", and its sports journalists chose their Sports Personality of the Year. There were two categories, Finnish athletes and foreign athletes. The foreign winner was the German NT, 48 pts. Neuer came in second with 43 pts. Ronaldo got 15 pts and Messi 11 pts.

So,what we have with real situation of sport reiting!

1."The Guardian"-The top 100 footballers panel discusses No1: Cristiano Ronaldo
2."The Guardian"- Best Three players of the year- 1.Ronaldo 2 Neuer 3 Messi
3.World soccer"-best footballer of the year - Ronaldo
4." L'Equipe" - Sportsmen of the Year - Manuel Neuer
5. Aips (International sport press association) Best Athletes of the year -1.NEUER MANUEL 2.FEDERER ROGER 3.RONALDO CRISTIANO
6.Aips - Tops European twenty athletes according to Polish Press Agency
1.Lewis Hamilton 2.Manuel Neuer 3.Novak Djokovic 4. Cristiano Ronaldo

What you think about that? Why ronaldo still big favorite? I can not understand that, and why english newspapers dont like write about Neuer , only about Ronaldo...

Mostly because it's a popularity contest. Obviously, magazines and sports journalists are more likely to give it to Neuer, than with a voting system like BdO. Even when Messi didn't have a top 3 level year, he's still going to get a lot of votes just because he's Messi, just like Ronaldo last year. I still think that Neuer has a chance though but BdO is a laughable award.

When I think about if Neuer can win or not, it's not how can we reasonably compare a winger to a keeper? It's which coaches/players are most likely to vote for Neuer? How many German coaches are voting? How many keepers are captains of their teams? Very farcical.

English media have no appreciation for goalkeepers. Goalkeepers have hardly ever been even named footballer of the year in England. There's no tradition of goalkeepers in England either.

And they don't watch German football. They are completely clueless what's going on in Germany. The latest great goalkeeper to challenge Neuer is now, according to English media, please take a seat, Loris Karius. Apparently Arsenal are interested in signing him after Szczesny's latest comical display. According to English media, Karius is the 2nd best German keeper and 2nd choice in the German NT, competing for the No 1 spot in Germany. Last time I checked he was the 4th choice keeper in the U21. For the No 2 and No 3 spots in the A team, there are at least half a dozen ahead of him.

The Finnish NT's captain is Niklas Moisander who plays as a centre back for Ajax and the NT. His twin brother is a goalkeeper.

You mean who's ahead for No 2 and No 3? Köpke (N11 goalkeeper coach) named his candidates for the No 2 and No 3 spot in October. Apart from Zieler and Weidenfeller he named Leno, Ter Stegen, Horn, Trapp, Baumann, Fährmann.

Karius wasn't anywhere in the discussion.

Because sports journalism is now creative journalism. Here's Mark Cuban, owner of Dallas Mavericks, taking down the sports commentators of ESPN and their stupid generalizations and fondness for hyperboles. What he said is quite applicable to football commentators and some (well most of them) journalists.

Ah, sorry didn't get that :D He's with Mainz 05.

Even football sites are parroting that crap now.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in 21-year-old German goalkeeper Loris Karius, who has emerged as his country's second best stopper behind only Ballon d'Or finalist Manuel Neuer in recent months.
90mins [source]

The Gunners are eyeing up top emerging German keeper Loris Karius. The shot-stopper, 21, is the youngest keeper in the Bundesliga with FSV Mainz. He is now regarded as Germany’s best player at the position after Bayern Munich’s World Cup winner Manuel Neuer.

And CaughtOffside, too. It's a real sad state of affairs when even football sites just parrot a shitty tabloid like The Mirror, when just typing his name into Wikipedia would have told them all they'd need to know.

CR7 played in the most awesome league which is PL... and he's being linked every year to a return. :P
Have you seen what PL teams do to Neuer, Aguero?
Neuer and Messi are chickens, playing in the weak BuLi and La Liga.
This is why...

Then how come that the mighty PL clubs are desperate to sign German U21-goalkeepers every other month, if they are all chickens? First Liverpool with Horn, now Arsenal with Karius, Zieler is also linked to some PL club again and again.

No, it's just hyperbole, anyone play a handful of good games, and they are the next Messi, the next Ronaldo, the next Neuer. Until the next month, when another player is. How about waiting one or two seasons if someone performs consistently.
