Well, I'm planning to drive up to their megastore in Newcastle to get some Heskey jerseys. Anyone want 1?

As much as we'd all love some, they've sold out!

Maltese star Michael Mifsud scored his first goal in Australia - against Del Piero's team. :)

I went to an Adelaide United match and as I was walking out after the game, I wondered if football could get any worse than this :(

I wonder if any Aussies actually realised this game was on hours after a famous win against South Africa in the cricket?

Probably not, cricket is big here, really big. If you want to know how big soccer is here... All I can say is that I can't even find a website that covers the match, more or less find out who started the match  Kruse is also injured anyway.

Game changer was when Mitch got sent off    (I don't know what BVB is going to do when Weidenfeller retires).

I watched the vs Costa Rica match live last year, and had a good seat. Mitch was pulling something (I think was) hilarious...

Spoiler: show
So 3 players (including Cahill) were warming up and passed by the Terrace (the "ultras") section and were greeting the supporters. Mitch was behind, ran about halfway and stopped before he reached the Terrace section. Turns out there was a guy on the front row wearing a Bayern jersey. Take it what you will, but I was having a pretty good laugh at that :o

Who do we sing for ? We sing for Wanderers!

The Western Sydney Wanderers have won the Asian Champions League, and to call it a sensation would be an understatement. It's a bit like SC Freiburg winning the UEFA CL.

The final score was 1:0 against Al-Hilal on aggregate, and when the Wanderers returned from Saudi Arabia they received a raucous welcome from 2000 supporters at 11:30pm, me being one of them. Club World Cup, here we come.

Well done... ;-)
Is it the first time that an Aussie won it right?

Al Hilal got what they deserved. Their owner said WSW, was too small to win AFC CL. Disgraceful antics by its players and fans. Players spitting and headbutting and their fans mobbing the team, pointing lasers, and only 14 away fans of WSW was able to get visa to watch the game on the 2nd leg in Saudi. A female fan needed a male family member to accompany her or be imprisoned.

Congrats Wanderers!

Yes, first time. Knocked out the 2012 and 2013 title holders, 2013 finalist, and reigning Japanese champions in the process. Massive achievement.

What went down in Saudi Arabia makes me wonder why a country like Saudi Arabia is still a FIFA member. The crowd was exclusively male and although the majority of locals was respectful towards the small number of Aussie visitors, the female of them did get booed, and a female AFC official water bottled.

The Qatar WC promises to be interesting.
