The Basel winger has been on Gerard Houllier's radar since he took over at Villa Park and scouts have been impressed with the 21-year-old.
Stocker, a Swiss international, has a contract Basel until 2014 but Houllier is eager to speak to him regarding a move to Villa Park this summer.
Doubts remain over the future of Ashley Young and Stocker is seen as a potential replacement.

But talkSPORT has learned that Bayern Munich have jumped ahead of Houllier and Villa in the chase to land Stocker, with officials from the Allianz Arena confident of snatching him from Houllier's grasp.

Stocker is a swiss Winger born in 1989 and plays for Basel

i saw him , he is really good , not to be compared to Shaqiri , but he is good , and does not et affected when his team sucks

Him and Shaqiri are kind of Basel's "Robbery". They're both talented, but Shaqiri is better and stronger from what I've seen.

He's got the potential to be popular with the girls I guess.

I found very limited stuff about him on YouTube :(

Bayern Munich are moving into pole position in the race for Basel winger Valentin Stocker.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of much interest in recent months, with Serie A side Udinese battling Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg and Stuttgart for the player’s signature. However, the arrival of Bayern on the scene has complicated matters.

While Udinese were confident of seeing off Bundesliga rivals for Stocker, they are less confident now the Allianz Arena outfit are involved and the Swiss star himself is thought to be very tempted by the prospect of a move to the 2010 Champions League finalists.

Stocker broke through into the Basel team in 2007 and has since gone on to pick up two Swiss Super League titles and two Swiss Cups in addition to representing Switzerland at international level.

Valentin Stocker had to undergo knee surgery due to injury and will now be out for 8 months. This almost definitely means that FC Bayern will no longer be interested in him. Get well soon, Valentin!

Gee, another player overlooked who hurt Bayern. This is becoming the standard at Bayern. Thanks Bayern, for stating our current players could do it!!
