The Basel winger has been on Gerard Houllier's radar since he took over at Villa Park and scouts have been impressed with the 21-year-old.
Stocker, a Swiss international, has a contract Basel until 2014 but Houllier is eager to speak to him regarding a move to Villa Park this summer.
Doubts remain over the future of Ashley Young and Stocker is seen as a potential replacement.
But talkSPORT has learned that Bayern Munich have jumped ahead of Houllier and Villa in the chase to land Stocker, with officials from the Allianz Arena confident of snatching him from Houllier's grasp.
Stocker is a swiss Winger born in 1989 and plays for Basel
