FC Bayern are reportedly after 26 year old Senegalese international striker Papiss Cissé, who is currently on the books of Bundesliga club SC Freiburg. Last season was Cissé's first full season with Freiburg, and he was 2nd in the Bundesliga scoring charts after Mario Gómez, scoring 22 goals, a record for SC Freiburg and for goals by an African in the Bundesliga. He has also won the EFFIFU award for being the most efficient striker in the league.

Now he said "I want to leave!" because he wants to try himself on a different level, i.e. play in the Champions League.

FC Bayern are in the market for a new striker after Ivica Olic was injured for 2 months, leaving only Gomez and Petersen as pure strikers.

The estimated fee for Papiss Demba Cissé is around 15 million euros.

W-wow. If this deal has any chance of happening, I'd be really happy. I'm sure he'll be content with being a second choice striker for now, and he'll definitely get his chance to be first choice.

15 millions sounds a bit high, but then again, strikers are always expensive.

I think it's a fair price, considering there are/were a number of Premier League clubs after him (namely Blackburn and Arsenal).

15 million isn't expensive when you are selling to a bundesliga rival- especially when prices everywhere are so inflated!!! we got gustavo for 15 mil and i think he was worth every penny!

then don't buy from bl.lazio got the world class cisse for 5 millions.we can get something from another league.

would be a great buy for bayern. I think olic is in his final year at bayern with his injuries. Cisse would be awesome for bayern, hes fast can dribble and has a wicked shot. 15 million i think that is a good price. But i doubt bayern will want to spend that much

He had flu

I don't think we need a striker now and paying 15M for this guy is risky IMO. He hasn't performed at big games yet so there is no reason to pay that amount of money for him

i think he would be an awesome signing ! i agree 15M is too much ...but i still believe that he will be good for 10M and signig a striker is a must for many reasons

-Olic at this age is becoming too injury prone and i doubt he'll be back in form
-Papise will put pressure on Gomez and force him to be more consistent
-we can use an 4-4-2 formation when the robbery are injured

I don't think there's a problem with Olic' form, I mean, the two substitute appearances he's had so far he created a goal in one (made the drive to the touchline, found Ribery who just played the ball in front of Gustavo at Wolfsburg), and scored in the other. That's exactly as much as in 30-odd minutes of playtime as Gomez has done in four games straight so far.

What I mean is that those were his first games after his injury and there was no apparent drop in form, although there was a long recuperating period.

Unlikely to happen

gomez got injured against zurich, i could see bayern buy him now before the transfer window closes. 15 million isnt much at all for him, have you seen him play??? He scored agaisnt bayern last season and was awesome.

Yes he's a good player. The fact that Arsenal are interested also confirms that. But Gomez isn't injured, he can play on Saturday.
