There's nothing wrong with Dembele joining our reserves team... :P

L'Equipe :
- Sportbild's assertion that Dembélé has chosen Dortmund is premature. First, because according to the information of the french newspaper, the preference of the player goes towards La Liga, where Barca is extremely interested, or PL, rather than the Bundesliga despite great interest from Bayern.
- The lawyer of the player has categorically denied having reached an agreement with Dortmund.
- The absence of Rennes from European competitions next season, if confirmed, could precipitate his departure.
- Dortmund and Rennes have the same supplier and the owner of Rennes has a minority stake in Dortmund, which might facilitate negotiations between the two clubs.

Still... Let aside that I think we NEED to go for talents like him (and that we need to be determined in such negotiations...): if he chose Dortmund over us it would mean that not only German talents, but also international talents seem to prefer them over us... We need to work on our reputation in that aspect... #-o

If we are losing him to Dortmund, it's surely because he sees a Bayern as a team where he might struggle to break through. If anything, our reputation would be too good for him at this age.

What I meant is: we have a reputation to "burn talent"... At least in Germany... And in all honesty: yes, we still have Ribéry and Robben, but it'*s not like he'd immediately be winger number one in Dortmund... And they just recently had that whole Januzaj episode...

True, he'd face competition at Dortmund but not as much as with us. He would come in much more ready than Januzaj ever did, who had barely played for the last year and a half. Reus and Mikhi have been sure starters for them, but Kagawa not so much. He seems to be playing well again but he had a stretch where he was out of the team, so Dembele can already compete with him for that final spot. Plus, Mikhi might be leaving which would create a huge opening.

Only Barca probably has a harder frontline to breakthrough than Bayern does at the moment.

p.s not sure about the burnt talent reputation, it might be true in Germany but we have surely been quite successful with the French.

Club legends are rare, so to assume that Costa and Coman, after less than one season of playing at a high level, will be able to step into Ribery and Robben's boots is to bet against the odds. It's always good to have another option. That option until now has been Mario Gotze, but he has struggled here and could well leave this summer.Rummenigge told last week that Gotze's future will be discussed after the season, amid links to Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund. If Gotze leaves, there will be room for another attacking player in the squad. To that end, Dembele is a perfect signing. Only a year younger than Coman, he can challenge his compatriot for playing time but won't expect to start every game. Not at first, at least. And in the long run, it could be that Coman and Dembele start for Bayern (and France, for that matter) on the wings.Dembele seems to prefer the left and Coman the right, and despite being in the prime of his career, Costa will be turning 30 the year that Dembele celebrates his 23rd birthday. So provided Gotze leaves and he takes his chances, there is a foreseeable future for Dembele at Bayern. Also his last 5 or 6 games in Rennes /i wathed 3 of them/,he is playing behind the striker, not on the wing.

Overpay ridiculously and they become stronger... ;)

Not that I don't want competition... But I'd prefer another team... :P

So... Sportbild says that they got him for 5m? Has to be false.

He's 18, right? He probably has a 5M release clause if he has any.

But with all the different media claiming Dortmund has the pole position I still think there has to be some truth to it... If he'S really a coming superstar - and I think he looks promising - WE should be the ones in his vita, and not Dortmund... Look at the marketing - and sporting - success MEssi and Ronaldo are for Real and Barca... I mean - even OUR coach is advertising MEssi up and down... :P :D

Maybe we've got a bigger fish and let Dortmund have Dembele so they don't resist as much in the Hummels case :coffee:
