Anyone care to comment what is going on here. My translation is so bad it almost sounded like 96 was interested. :o

Yes, the translation sounded good. Hannover 96 were interested in taking Nils Petersen on a loan, but this was refused.

Why!? He isn't making any progress over here, and Jupp doesn't seem to have too much confidence in him either.

If we loan him out, we'd only have 2 strikers in the team. That's not enough for a team chasing cups on three fronts.

I have no confidence in him on any of those fronts. Might as well play Müller or Robben or whoever up front should Gomez and Olic both break eachothers legs on the training ground somehow.

Maybe you will change your mind when you look at his stats.

DFB Pokal: 90 minutes played, 2 goals (2 goals per 90 mins) [to note that this was his only full match for the senior team]
Bundesliga: 135 minutes played, 2 goals (1.33 goals per 90 mins)
Regionalliga: 180 minutes played, 1 goal (1 goal per 90 mins)
Champions League: 99 minutes played, 0 goals (0 goals per 90 mins)

Domestically, he's been pumping in goals-per-minute at a faster rate than Mario Gomez.

He's a decent sub but I wouldn't want to see him in the CL just yet. Even if he was still in our squad I would rather play Muller as striker in the CL. Just my opinion, but like quazzi I too think it is better to loan him

The thing is that he doesn't look like he's got the stuff while doing it. Look at that awful goal against Schalke for example, where he screwed the first shot up and the ball actually managed to find its way through Fährmann's legs straight onto his way again. And even then Uchida almost managed to prevent it. I don't doubt that he can pull a Gomez later on in his career, but right now, he's not reliable enough.

The thing is, he wasn't really given a fair chance yet, so it is too early to say. The only full 90 minutes in which he played, he scored 2 goals.

Wait, so Petersen hasn't been given a chance but Usami following his mighty what, 30 minutes of Bundesliga play is the next messiah? Something is not right here.

And where exactly did anyone in this forum claim Usami to be the next messiah? :o
Neither player has been given a fair chance yet, but at least Usami has been plying his trade more regularly in the FC Bayern II.

It's hyperbole. How is Usami rated as a player with "enormous potential" when he's had so much less time to play in games that we've seen?

Because he's shown technique, whereas Petersen is more of a Gomez-like player who won't really shine technically but reap the fruits.

I hate to interrupt but... one thing is for certain; he doesn't have a chance in the next year or so IF Olic' stays AND he doesn't get injured. Even then, Uli's promise that we get a 'bomber' to cover Gomez should he get injured spells a cloudy outlook for Nils.

Either way, I vote for him to be loaned. (Death threads kindly welcomed via PM please.)

The thing is I want to be able to judge him after at least three games in a row; full time. He will NOT get that chance with us under regular circumstances and NOT if Uli has it his way.

Totally agree. A loan can be a right thing for him to develop more.

He showed some good things, but he is not at all ready to represent Bayern in a CL knock-out game in case Gomez somehow can't play.
