Van Gaal will sign him and play him as a striker.

For you transfermarkt lovers (MUTU ;) )
Transfermarkt rate this transfer at 39% already.

Wow this has escalated really quickly. At first I had mixed feelings about it, but on second thought how could you say no?

Someone smartly commented here earlier that his through balls would complement Boateng's long passes.
That's a mouthwatering combo for sure.

Funny that Carlo would have the ultimate playmaking CB duo after Pep will have left. :D

It was at 50this afternoon already...

I can understand their reasoning... As I said... He wouldn't have to explain much if he wanted to go to Spain or England...

I'd love to get Hummels back.... but I'll believe it when I see it

I'm hopeful, but not gonna get excited about it

personally, I'd like to see a situation where Hummels ends up at Bayern and Gotze goes back to BVB and everyone can find some satisfaction with the moves

but again.... I'll believe it when I see it

The only scenario (for now) that I could imagine with Mats willing to risk the ire of the Dortmund fans when he returns to the Bayern fold is the one where Bayern re-hires his Dad, as well...

I'm really excited.

I think he's the only player who can give me goosebumps for a gossip transfert story.

I am fearing that it will all end up in an anti climax by him joining Klopp...:x

Hummels and Boateng at the back should be enough to make a deep-lying playmaker practically unnecessary.

Remember some days ago when asked about joining Chelsea, Hummels said BVB plays CL next season and Chelsea doesn't? Same thing for L'pool, I don't think he would change his mind about that.

I'm so hopeful this transfer will happen. Boateng and Hummels both playing together for Bayern would definitely make the best defense duo in the whole Europe.

Usually when something escalates so quickly out of nowhere in the media, it's true. His own (and his father's) comments also greatly hint at it. I believe it and I'm so delighted.

Have Hummels and Boateng ever played together, apart from the U21 championships in 2009 and the WC in 2014 (both victorious)?

Well, there's nothing concrete yet, just loads of speculation.

I thought if Hummels & his dad just want to use us to make themself look good like: "I had an offer from Bayern but I refused and will stay at Dortmund." so he looks like a hero, we probably would've already denied any interest though.

We'll see what Bild etc. will say.

Edit: Just as I say it. The user on transfermarkt that has access to Bild articles early says that Bayern are negotiating with Hummels.
