It's just a fact that keepers are much less important than outfield players, specially for a team like ours which barely concedes any shots on target per game.

That data is skewed. Let's say a good goalkeeper saves 90% of shots and a great keeper saves 95% of shots. You'd say it's only a 5% difference and you'd think that they're almost the same. But what it comes down to is that on average if they concede 20 shots on target against in a match, the good keeper would have let in 2 goals (because he saves 90% of 20) and the great keeper would have let in 1 goal (saved 95% of 20).

It's better to postpone some extensions... we can't immediately raise everyone's pay to 15M, you know...
Bayern is probably waiting for his ratings to go down a bit to offer him an extension... and I'm fine with that.

His statement about not ruling out wanting something else in the future is a very fair statement and very true. Who of us can determine with 100% certainty that in 3yrs time we won't have a change in opinion of something? If for instance, he wins the CL 1 more time and the euro within the next few years, he could very well, and with every right, become satisfied of his accomplishments and decide to go on a new adventure with a different club or even leave football.

Now that I think about it, I can see him as a tv personality hosting his own show

We could do with a "good" keeper inferior to Neuer. How many shots does he have to save anyway?

But yes he is the best of all time according to me..

A curious question..Can anyone get any idea how many points neuer wins us every seasn..my intution is it would be much lower than cech or de gea ..the reason is obvious though ..but still i'm curious..

I don't have the particular number, but there was that quite amazing stat (as per the Bundesliga table at the end of November 2015 as far as I remember) that if we had no keeper, we'd still be top of the table.

So judging from that, plus the Ingolstadt game where he was the definite hero, it can't be much more than 3 :P

Where have we been for the last 5 years? On top the Europe's creme like never before! Yes, there are some factors in football which make things far easier to be there than 10 years ago, but we replaced every single one after the retirements and the departures.

We say we cannot replace Neuer? Ohhhh we can and we shall replace him, you better count on that.

There are many GKs who would like to find themselves between the Bayern posts. :| I'm not worried for Neuer's future, not at all.

Unlike Neuer, Elber and Effenberg weren't even close to being the best players in the world in their positions or arguably the best ever in their positions.

So your point makes zero sense

I've always been a fan of Neuer but it's not like he's been busier than Effenberg and etc...

Neuer is also the vice captain at bayern, we cannot forget that. This is not like FIFA (the video game) where a player have no sentimental value to a team. The players look up to him, having a player on your team where all players and other teams know that he is the best in the world, adds a lot of fear factor.

I do think Neuer is not irreplacable in terms of quality alone. Many goalkeepers can replace him and we won't collectively lose much at all.

But he's Manuel Peter ****ing Neuer. He can't leave for his cheekiness alone.

They were for Bayern and that was the only what mattered. Who cared about "the rest of the world" during that time which was waaaaaaaaay stronger and competitive in every single aspect. :)

During some games he would be able to use a computer... play farmville or something. Rules aren't fair... let him use a tablet or smartphone at least to not get bored. Maybe he'd register to this forum then... :P

Effenberg not the best player in the world in his position? I think he's the most complete footballer in the history of the game. With Elber, I'd grudgingly agree given that his prime was at the same time of Ronaldo's prime, but not with Effenberg.
