That's last time that Messi ever scored in a round in which his team (Barcelona or Argentina) got eliminated, in any competition. It was the first leg of Barcelona's thumping of Getafe in the Copa del Rey (finished 5-2). They were eliminated in the 2nd leg after losing 4-0. In fact, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup are the only competitions that Messi has scored in (in the last round played) despite Barcelona getting eliminated.

Since then Messi has a streak of 16 matches in which he played, didn't score and his team got eliminated as a result*.

I want a player that excels when the team is doing badly. Paying 250m euros for a player who generally only scores when his team is playing well is, as Rummenigge aptly put it, "insane". Please, keep him out of Munich.

* excluding Spanish Super Cup

It depends on how you interpret the results though. Using the same streak, I could say that Barca only win when Messi plays well. He's the only reason they're good. :P

But if Barcelona are poor they would Sometimes lose even when Messi performs. But they don't.

I've been hearing some rumours about PSG considering a 400 million euro bid for Messi. It'd be really crazy if true, especially with the 75% tax now in.

Apparently there was this group of marketing researchers who were asked to come up with some sort of value for Messi (based on marketing value and so on, I guess) by PSG and a number of other clubs. One of them is considering the bid. It is only reasonable to assume it is PSG.

Doesn't he have a 250 million release clause though?

Nah, he's only a year younger than Mandzukic. We need someone younger.

Messi has agreed a new contract with Barcelona, although it has not yet been signed.

Sorry Pep. :P

^LOL -- I had to laugh at that, Awesome.

Glad for Messi's contract renewal at Barca, he is their icon and deserves to stay with them until he retires, it would seem weird otherwise. Can't ever imagining Messi in a Bayern shirt.

I don't even want him here. I would see it as very disrespectful on his part to leave the club. Messi is, as Blatter said, a good boy. I am sure he would never do something like that.
