I knew this would happen, and it's starting already. Nonsense rumours cus we signed Pep as our coach.

I've also already noticed this....... watch for the influx of new Bayern "fans".... you'll notice a lot of "lets buy this guy, that guy, 60mio is not too much" going on here.

Honestly though ... I don't want the board to buy ANYONE...

I agree, the press and the "fans" talk about our team as if it needs an overhaul. They fail to recognize the fact that this is probably the best squad in Europe, seeing that Madrid have some sort of Mexican stand-off going on in the locker room. All I want is for Bayern to replace ageing and leaving players and MAYBE add some star if he isn't a rip-off.

Agreed, i think Sammer has the right idea of buying and developing young players to make sure Bayern stays at the top for years to come. Cause at the moment Bayern has the squad to win it all I don't think any high class signings are necessary at the moment unless its replacing old players.

I think you just read my mind  I mean, bringing in superstars is fun, but not always a great idea. The thing I want Bayern to do is make sure that we can keep our squad as one of the best in Europe and the Bundesliga for the long run is the number one thing right now. Longevity>instant success needs to be our business model in my opinion. Now, after we have replaced those aging players, and have gotten a solid team then by all means, bring in a reasonably priced star if we feel it's needed, but don't bow into "fans" that have just jumped ship from Barca and shell out more money than we should.

To stay at the top of the success triangle, a team must refresh its squad with a couple of singing (one of whom may be a world-class player) every season to provide that extra degree of uncertainty for opposing teams. However, a complete overhaul of one of the best teams, if not the best, around is utterly ridiculous.

By the end of the season, we'll hopefully be having our trophy cabinet filled with a couple of shiny pieces of silverware (one of them with big ears, me hopes). As such, I predict a world-class signing (not Messi, obviously), and a couple of decent rotation players to cover for the possible departures of the likes of Tymo, DvB, Rafihna, etc.

Imagine the market bust Bayern and BL will have if this happens, im tired to only see RM and Barca shirts everywhere, with this transfer you can expect to see bayern merchandise in every sport store in the world. But 250 M is insane.

Ok, say we make a profit of about €30 on each shirt sold.

If we get Messi, we'd need to sell about 8,333,334 extra shirts over the length of his contract to break even... Do-able?

;)

Well, Messi is supposedly about to sign another contract extension, so it doesn't look like this deal will happen :P
