You guys are forgeting that getting Messi would finaly bring bayern the global recognition they deserve. I mean bayern has been by far the best club in the world in the last 5 years and people outside germany still think barca and real rule world football, the rest are just trying to beat them. That is more valuble than the player himself, since all the retarded barca kids who dont watch football but buy shirts and are what sponsors are looking for when investing a a club will migrate to bayern. It will drasticly increase the entire bundesliga revenue, thus making bayern the supreme rulers of world football for mamy years to come.

Do we really want those 'retarded kids' migrating to us? I know Bayern are the best club, and I frankly don't want these bandwagon fans supporting us just because they love Messi (or any other star player). I kind of like the 'underdog tag' we still have when playing other clubs like Real and Barca. Makes it that much sweeter when we beat them

Edit: but the revenue part I can appreciate. Even though Bayern do well enough money-wise, the Bundesliga as a whole would benefit from such exposure.

All true but that would be a shift away from our DNA and while we may gain some fanboys it may come at the expense of pissing off some long-time fans who loved the club for its policies.

Not to mention some long term players... Messi would be basically undroppable due to the transfer fee alone, even if his performances turn to mush. How would players like Mueller, Robben, Ribery, etc... take it, might not be too good for team harmony. Apart from that, the team would have to start revolving around Messi because, well, Messi is Messi. I can't imagine our players being too happy to have to pander to another player, even he he is the finest on earth.

When Robben tried to be the main man a few years ago and became utterly selfish, it ended with punch ups in the dressing room. Not saying it would go that far obviously (Messi wouldn't last 5 seconds :P ), but you never know.

Why I don't want Messi to leave Barca and why to join Bayern...
Messi is one of the greatest of all time, if he goes in one of those 'dirty money clubs' it would legitimate further their image. That's a lost battle anyway, I just don't want them to win it this fast.
The only reason why you have to pay stratospheric sums for players are those 'dirty money clubs', the reason why Messi and others get paid too much are those clubs.

I want him to join us because we got everything else but prestige... A 16 year old choosing RM over us is an indicator that we have to work more in that direction.
If Goetze became one of our most paid player for doing nothing for us, I don't see why would Messi be a problem in that aspect. In the last 6 years or so, most people took a side on the Messi/Ronaldo debate, most of our players from what I read were Pro-Messi, except 1 or 2 players.

I totally agree. Even though we might be playing the best football in my lifetime, i still feel like we are lightyears in regards of "flashiness". I wish more players were like this man.

But signing a player like Messi would benefit all parties, if the media speculations are to be believed. Adidas would get their cash cow to a Adidas sponsored team, increasing brand recognition and shirt sales. Bayern would get one of the best players of all time, increasing brand recognition and shirt sales. Barcelona would get a butt load of cash and get rid of locker room disturbances. Messi would get a buttload of cash, move on and become happy.

That is of course only if the media speculations hold any ground in reality. But we need to be able to make signings like these to stay relevant as a top team. When oil money moved in to football, the transfer market changed. Gone are the days where sensible business was admired. Now a days, the more money you spend, the bigger the applaus.

It looks like Messi is really unhappy in Barca. I don't know what happen in closed doors but I hope he stays in Barca. Actually I don't know whether Messi would be happy in anywhere. Barca has a team that surrounds him. Would money makes him happy? He's got a ton already :-k . But after all of this hoo ha going on i'm not sure what will happen if he decides to stay in Barca. there's a proverb 好马不吃回头草 (direct translate: A good horse will not eat the grass behind it). It's not good to dwell on past actions, just progress forward.

This. Messi is a great player but I don't see him coming to Bayern. Not sure if he would fit in the team. Bayern is in good shape now so why add a (?).

I think the cash clubs has a better shot at getting him.

No prestigé, only FC Bayern. It's more than sick when the German media call Bayern "FC Hollywood". Like we don't have enough troubles without possible expensive transfers.

Bayern's prestigé will be a development of own, youth product which will be a homeboy and new super striker, which means - gifted as Ronaldo, cold-blood killer as Der Bomber, foxy as van Nistelrooy, physically type of Ibrahimović and also attractive scorer as the latter one, mentally the same as... Well, I don't know. Someone who's at the same time both humble and charismatic and crazy enough in the positive way(not a Raumdeuter type :) ).

That's gonna be a real prestigé for Bayern. 8) Not to forget, after Neuer definitely one GK who's Bayern branded.

I swear, Messi is having some kind of identity crisis in terms of what his image is

he's dying his hair... he's getting tattoos.... hes in court for not paying his taxes (thats a little different than the others lol)..... its almost like he wants to be a bad boy, yet he's like the most innocent guy on the pitch

its just funny
