I agree that Goretzka is great catch for free and also that our squad is very injury prone. But my point is that we don't really need depth *in CM*. If we had an injury plague and 3 CMs were out, we would still have 3/6 of Thiago, Vidal, Renato, Rudy, Tolisso and Goretzka for a single position. OTOH, if Javi injures, we have no other pure DM. If James injures, we have no other creative player. If Coman injures, we only have a mediocre Gnabry and a done Ribéry for LW.YlonenXabi wrote:Javi was CM but Bielsa used him as CB with Athletic and he was succesful there
Regarding Goretzka and our midfield for next year... whenever I find myself thinking if we might be overpacked in any position I always come to the same conclusion
- We are talking about Bayern. Most of our squad is injury prone, we are definitely going to miss key players all along the season.
I see no place for Renato and either Vidal or Tolisso might have to leave as well. But apart from that we will be fine. We've just signed a hell of a player on a free transfer![]()
How much would have ManU paid for Leon Goretzka if he were playing in the PL for some random Southampton/Everton team?

Hermann Gerland "I recommended him to FC Bayern when he was 16. I knew him for a long time" - Looking forward to Goretzka joining Bayern? Gerland: "I'm always happy when good players join us" [Bild]FCBayernMunchen wrote:Interesting... looking forward to what it'll say
