Biggest difference-maker (for me) was Werner.Sure, they both (with Goretzka) scored 3 goals, but Werner also had 2 assists.

Sources close to Real says they contacted to his agent. They wanted to offload James and want to bring one of Ceballos/Goretzka. if you remember my points regarding James, it makes sense.

If he joins Real Madrid the board should retire

Yes, but that means Kovačić will leave Real Madrid. If Kovačić isn't Modrić's successor(as Luka said to RM board), then his younger compatriot will leave and someone else will take that spot.

Betis' Ceballos is currently a main star in Spain after the U-21 championship and on a wish list of Real Madrid.

Not sure if Goretzka is there, but Kroos would get a German friend in the dressing room.

Somehow I think we'll take Goretzka in summer 2018, either for free or for some 20 mil € after Leon extends his contract with Schalke.

I think Real will want Ceballos, they are on a sort of "re-Spanisation" vibe ATM (Vallejo, Llorente, Ascensio, et al). Don't think they will let Kovacic go either, he seems to be highly rated. Don't see why they would want Göretzka

Real wanted him when he was 16.
I'm sure they might be interested.

Definitely they are. I just read an article few days ago about Llorente where he says that he's ready to take his place in the RM team.

PunkCapitalist wrote:Don't think they will let Kovacic go either, he seems to be highly rated.

He'll look to get some serious role in the team otherwise he'll seek for a new club because he can't stay a great talent forever, but develop himself into something bigger since his talent is bigger than Modrić, but he isn't near close to the quality and performances that Modrić gives.

PunkCapitalist wrote:Don't see why they would want Göretzka

Me neither.

According to Goretzka's recent statements, he sees his future at Schalke but that's far from the truth. Naturally he expects to see some serious result progress in the team and ambitions, just as the homegrown Meyer is also disappointed with the situation and he as well wants to see more from the whole team.
