Kerlon [Kerlon Moura Souza]

Has anyone seen Kerlon play? He's got this fantastic dribble move where he bobs the ball on his head and can sprint with it, turn etc. He has fantastic control with his head, and it's almost impossible to stop him without commiting a foul.

Such a cool trick would win Bayern a lot of fans if they would sign him. He would be worth every penny they'd spend. Moreover, he's always a good bet for getting you a dangerous freekick or penalty...

Unfortunately, I never heard any transfer rumours about him possibly joining Bayern :(

Much like our beloved Elber, he's just extended his contract at Cruzeiro... and like the majority of brazilians, is only concerned with playing in spain!

Hmm don't know if he's into Spain, but remember that 4 of the players who represented Brazil have played in Germany in the past or are playing in the present:

Lucio
Juan
Emerson
Ze Roberto

ah, remember though, two of those are defenders, and ermerson is very defensive minded, that's not what Brazillians are renowned for, they aren't the really money spinners...

plus, all of them either played or play for leverkusen... Juan signed in 2002, just after the Champions league run to the finals, which is when lucio and ze roberto played there, emerson helped build that squad...

leverkusen and die bundesliga was much stronger then and had a lot more high profile players.

True, we're not as strong anymore. But I'd say the trend is now upwards not downwards. To bring an example, Werder Bremen signed 21-year old Diego from Porto, and he's leaving everyone open-mouthed with his performances. Oh, and he's Brazilian :)

ture, it was a big coup for them, but I still believe that the trend is for good players to be leaving the bundesliga, Rosicky, Hleb, Berbatov, Ballack, Ze, the list goes on!

We're losing the experienced players, but we're getting the young guns. Kompany is one of them. A couple of seasons ago, all of Europe was crazy about him and all the big clubs were trying to buy him. And he chose Hamburg over none other than Chelsea.

that was just chosing what was best for his career, he'll leave once he's fully developed, he just didn't want to sit behing gallas, carvalho and terry, when Van Buyten came to bayern, it guaranteed him first team football, in one of the strongest leagues in europe!

the player mentioned, with the exception of ballack are all fairly young, and all of them are in the prime of their career, that's when the strength of the league shows, fair enough a lot of clubs are brining in some major young talent, but it's the experience one's in their prime which will prove the best contenders in continental competition!

You are right. But before we used to find it harder to get the best young talents. Seems like the Bundesliga is being used as a bit of a nursery at the moment.

Aw man... Inter always wants the big name players. It's still kind of early though, so we'll never know

Full name: Kerlon Moura Souza
Date of birth: January 27, 1988
Place of birth: Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Height: 1.67 m / 5 ft 6 in
Nickname: Foca (Seal), Foquinha (Little Seal)
Position: Midfielder & Forward

He plays for Cruzeiro, he was the top scorer and best player at the 2005 Venezuela U17 South American Youth Championship.

He is known for his ability to flick the ball up onto his head and run with it during matches. It is known as the seal dribble.

Also Manchester United is interested in him

Kerlon has created a lot of noise, he has already been called by many the next Ronaldinho, so as expected he has been linked with a number of clubs all across Europe. For now though he has a contract with Cruzeiro which he extended on May 25, 2005 to 2009. He has also been dubbed the next "football genius", following the likes of Rivelino, Johan Cruyff, and Diego Maradona, the reason so is because like all these big names he has created and pioneered a piece of trickery, which in his case is the seal dribble.

... and the seal dribble is the best trick I've yet to see. The reason is that no one has yet found a legal way to stop him when he starts doing it. His control on it is good enough that he can change pace and direction without dropping it, and it's always just slightly above his head. The opposing team always resort to fouls to stop him.
