David Wayne "Junior" Hoilett, the Canadian forward has been one of the few plus points for relegation-haunted Blackburn Rovers this term, but club officials know he will move on when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Junior Hoilett is bound for Germany as Bayern Munich now lead the race to sign him.
Tottenham and Liverpool made enquiries about his availability in January.
But Blackburn whacked an million price-tag on Hoilett to keep him at the club for their relegation fight.
Now Bayern are set to snap him up on a free transfer in the summer after his Rovers' contract runs out.
The German outfit have been in close contact with his father and agent David Hoilett, who spent a fortnight in the country last month.
Brother Jaineil Hoilett plays in Germany for Mainz. Blackburn's Hoilett earns -a-week, but Bayern are willing to double that.
Canadian Hoilett was part of the Rovers' academy from the age of 13.
He was initially unable to obtain a work permit while in England, as a result Blackburn loaned him to German clubs to help the player earn one in the future.
He's currently playing in a very poor Blackburn side.
Having better players around him will help.
But Bayern are a possesion heavy team, and Blackburn are not. He plays the long through balls or just runs with it. There was very little on that compliation video of showing him playin passes and keeping the ball.
He's be a bench player at best abd could come on if we needed an injection of pace or impetus.
He could be a good player, but maybe Blackburn's woes are making him look better than he actually is. Podolski was like that for us, but Scott Parker played for West Ham and has been great for Tottenham.
He is 21 he is young he is fast and can play forward as well. I would take him for free! GET SHAQIRI and we would have a super bench in one of Kroos/Muller, Shaqiri, Hoilett, Alaba and Tymo/Gustavo Petersen and Olic!
For free, I cannot argue with this addition. Always nice to see young prospects added to the Bayern ranks. Although the first team is very good, there is an overall lack of depth in the system. Of course, this guy may not fix the lower tier, but every warm body helps.
He still hasn't played for Canada, and he is also eligible for Jamaica. I don't know why he isn't eligible for England since he's lived there for so long...
According to TZ, we only have to pay 810,000 Euros to get him. They called it a training compensation but I don't know what it means. That's a bargain in my opinion.

I believe training compensation is for young players who spend a minimum of two years at a club under the age of 21, and move on at the end of their contracts. Where the club they leave are entitled to training compensation.
I think it's about £625k in Scotland.
It's to stop small clubs not receiving anything if a bigger club comes in and the player decides to run down his contract rather than extend it.
