Just saw this on the official FCB iPhone app. Interesting transfer, for many reasons.

My first thought is "Where is he going to play?". At Eu 7 Mio, he will not be playing for the reserves.

Defensive midfield or right back?
- Defensive midfield is heavily populated for another season or two. If defensive midfield, I wonder whether Martinez's days playing in the Bayern defensive midfield may be over.
- Could he be the future right back at Bayern? Lahm's doesn't seem to be going back there, and there's not much other cover for Rafinha.

One other question for anyone who has seen him: Is he fast? (Thanks in advance.)

I must admit that i've never heard of him, but when we are willing to pay 7 million € for him there must be some talent. Welcome to Bayern Joshua!

Great signing. Watched him at the U19 Euro where he played at CDM next to Oztunali if I am not mistaken. What impressed me at him was his ability to dribble. He got a good technique about him and some flair too. He doesn't seem to be very strong, but he's agile and relatively pacey. It's hard to find another def midfielder to compare him with, as he's pretty unusual for one.

E: After watching a video with him I'd say he'd be more fit as a fullback than a midfielder. His passes aren't so great, but he seems to have a good defensive awareness.

Well I am already starting to like the kid already since we were literally born on the same day(February 8th, 1995). But I won't hold my breath for him to be the next Lahm but he definitely had my confidence! :p

A DM/FB hybrid is exactly what Pep likes in his roster, considering Lahm's and Alaba's current career path (and Rafinha and Hojbjerg's set of skills). It would be interesting to see behind the scenes how much Pep had to say in this transfer (because it's obviously one for the future, beyond his current contract).
The ideal team

--------Müller with gloves--------
-Müller--Müller--Müller--Müller--
-------Müller---------Müller-------
----Müller----Müller----Müller----
---------------Müller---------------

Interesting points.
>> considering Lahm's and Alaba's current career path...
Lahm, I think, will remain in defensive midfield, but I'm less sure where Alaba will play in future, in view of Bernat's great form and Pep's trend for playing 3 at the back. At any rate, I thing the left side is virtually sewn up for Alaba, Bernat, (Alonso?) and Ribery.

>> how much Pep had to say in this transfer...
I think he will have been consulted extensively. Firstly, Bayern will want to act as if they hope Pep will extend his contract beyond the 3 years and, secondly, they will want Pep to use Kimmich next season and not just let him rot on the becnh because he wasn't part of Pep's plans.

Stuttgart are offically fúcked up club. They cannot keep a single talent at Mercedes Arena and then people ask themselves why are they so bad...

Interesting move, but funny when you take a look at our situation with youngsters and their senior team career after 2011/2012 season.

That's a lot of money for his age but it's definitely necessary to get our hands on more youth NT players.

It seems that Guardiola requested this transfer personally.
