James in 2016 was the 2nd player that sold the most shirt on the world. Top 3:
1. Messi 1.9M
2. James 1.2 M
3. Cristiano R. 900K

That would imply it wasn't utter nonsense prior

Not an implication though at least in my Webster...

Ones for transfers and contract speculation and another is just a performance and stuff not mentioned in the transfer thread, the mods may lock the transfer when he passes the medical and the presentation is done...

I agree, but I'm not sure that he'll be that much of a hit. He's on big wages, the transfer fee is not all... he'll need to convince Bayern.

What are his wages at Bayern going to be? I would assume not higher than Lewandowski or else the deal wouldn't have happened, no?

James had the best season of his career at Madrid under Ancelotti in 2014/15. 13 goals and 13 assists in 29 Liga matches, 17 goals and 18 assists overall. Pretty solid. Similar to what Arjen Robben did last season, who was our only attacker other than Lewandowski to provide consistent production.

Bayern needed a creative, attacking player who could also score goals, dribble, and provide assists, at or near world class level, for reasonable money, and they achieved such.

8 m euros gross.

Supposedly James was on about €135,000 per week. That would put him at less than Neuer, Lahm, Robben, Ribery, Vidal, Müller, Lewandowski and somewhere above Costa, Alonso, Martinez, Boateng, Alaba, etc... Basically, we should expect he'll be a top 10 earner but shouldn't be in top 5.

Marca says that he earns 8 m euros for 2017, 8.2 m euros groos for 2018 at Real, because of the loan deal, he will earn the same amount here.

That seems incredibly low. 8m gross would be like €80k take home a week in Germany after taxes. That's the same pay bracket as Badstuber, Rafinha, Benatia, Dante....heck even Sanches makes something like €60k+. Marca isn't really reliable at all in the first place, though, so...

Frankly l didn't want us overpay and spend 70-80 m euros for him. yet l didn't expect a great deal like this. 10 m euros for 2 year loan is almost free for him. Risk free signing.

After all, l wanted us to sign a player who has his own fans and a player who is marketable to accelerate shirt sales. Thereby James fits really well. l hope we can sell as many as shirts we can sell and he can do great under Carlo.

l still think we need a player who can play as striker and left winger for depth.

So my friend was telling me he thinks Real have all the power cause they can recall him from the loan if they want. I told him I don't think this is the case but he seems certain that they have that option. I have no experience with contracts so if someone could give me some insight I'd appreciate it

They cant terminate the loan if there's an option to buy.

Ask your friend does he think Bayern are idiots? Why would they loan him if they had no chance to keep him if her performed well

The real question to you is - do you think Bayern would sign a loan like that?
