Quick! Somebody better block Quaazi's login account or this is gonna be one volatile thread soon.

On the other hand, if we don't announce that bomber soon somebody better block mine instead.
God, are you there? Shut up son, Gómez is scoring!

He's been a great player for us, sadly last couple of seasons badly affected by injury.

Hopefully the board up their search for a couple of new strikers in for next season.

TOO LATE!

Stop believing everything you read on the internet, people. This is like the 17th deal he's agreed on with Wolfsburg.

Ivica Olic is amongst the list of targets at Aston Villa Football Club.

Alex McLeish has endured a difficult debut campaign at Villa Park, with the vast majority of supporters still refusing to accept him due to his Birmingham City connections.

Results on the pitch haven’t helped his cause, but with a relegation fight probably unlikely, the Scot will look to continue his rebuilding job when the window reopens.

And Croatian international striker Olic, 32, is a target for the summer, when he will be available on a free transfer following the end of his Bayern Munich contract.

Oh come on, you can do better than that, Ivica! Certainly doesn't deserve to be banished into the MLS.

You are not seeing the complete picture here. Banish is hardly the world, though maybe from European eyes. It is not entirely a bad move for a 31 year old sub with injury issues.

Don't be silly, the MLS isn't a "rising league" or any of that. It's a shite league with shite prospects in a shite country that likes shite sports. No 31-year old who receives offers from clubs in European top leagues should consider heading there. If Klose managed to take Lazio by storm, Olic should do no worse.

Back on topic,

I would take Olic' any day of the week as a fan. But as a businessman, taking Klose for free (NOT talking about his salary!) has been the best deal of the... hour probably. There is simply no comparison between the two stat or income wise. Klose is a brand by himself; no questions there. Olic' is a saviour; but you can't market him like Klose.

Point is, you really can't expect to have the same offers for them, IMO. I might be proven wrong this summer.

It was fairly tongue-in-cheek, yes. But you're kinda reinforcing my point that Olic going to MLS would make no sense. He certainly has as much to offer as Klose in sporting terms, and not as a commercial opportunity as a "designated player". Look at other big names that have gone to the MLS lately - Marquez, Henry, Frings, that Englishman Kahn made a fool of... the point is that they're all marketable players in the US, Henry and Beckham due to their global fame, Marquez and Frings to specific ethnicities. Where does Olic fit in? There certainly isn't a big enough Croatian fanbase in the United States, let alone Seattle, and he's nowhere near a big enough name as Beckham or Henry (because he hasn't played in the EPL, of course). All signs point to him becoming an experienced bargain for a team in a top European league with mid-table ambition, like Aston Villa who was linked to him earlier in this thread.

Harsh man, very harsh words. The MLS is a rising league, its becoming a very popular league (still leagues behind NFL and MLB).

I'd love to see him in America, I would definitely make the trip to New York and Philadelphia to see him play.

Exactly. Besides, you'd expect a nation with four times the population of Germany to constantly sell out stadiums if it were truly so popular.
